If so, what are your overall impressions of the phone? Especially the reception? Is it better than your last Sprint phone or did you come from another carrier and does it compare favorably or not so much?

Thanks

Get a Palm Pre...IMO better than the old iphone and best phoen on the market. I played with the Hero awhile but if you are on the net alot on your phoen the Pre can't be beat.

GET THE HTC HERO...im personally a windows mobile guy and swore by it...hated other operating systems...especially im a apple hater ..... i didnt want to switch out of my windows mobile.... that is until i played with the htc hero.............. right after i tried it out because the sprint rep had it earlier then the release date, i purchased it the daay before it came out since sprint released it a day or two earlier in the US..... i decided to try out the android operating system from google because it was similiar to windows in a way, but it has absolutely no lagging when youre messing around with the phone....you can open applications simaltaniously....iphone cannot....(many other things the hero can do which iphones cannot!)...this thing is an IPHONE KILLER!!! many great apps... no lagging, simplly AMAZING..... by 2010 android should be the number 2 operating system of cell phones (just what i read online)......

overall, trust me, you guys will love it if you get one.... ive seen many people switch over from iphone to this.... also, sprint requires you to upgrade to their everything data plan.... which includes mobile to mobile to ANY CARRIER! screw the top 10 from like tmobile n stuff..lol.

I've had 4 Palm Pre's in just over 4 months. Each one had a screen issue (would not light up to see screen when someone called, couldn't hang up, couldn't see the menus, etc.).

After complaining to the right people, I was allowed to switch to the Blackberry Tour for no additional cost. Great phone, no problems, very solid and 100 x better battery than Palm Pre.

I used to be a big fan of the Pre, but today, not so much. Hard to believe that I received 4 bad phones in a row. Sprint's customer care policy through the 800 number is horrible. After 3 replacement phones, even if covered under warranty, the customer is stuck. They won't replace the phone anymore. Said there was nothing they could do. A call to their corporate office and making my local store (who were great to deal with) changed all that.

My brother just got the HTC Hero - he says he likes it so far, although he is not a phone junky, and hasn't ever owned any other smartphone, so take his endorsement for what it is.

I still really want a N900 - but it does not support Sprint's network, and I'm under contract.

Palm Pre is the best phone available. I have had NO issues with my Pre at all, absolutely love it.

Have you used a N900? It's pretty amazing. I got to see one a few months ago and was fairly impressed. Here's a youtube clip for the folks that haven't even seen it yet...

The Nokia looks pretty cool. Going to have to look at more reviews on it. Do you know what the price is?

Very expensive because Nokia doesn't have a deal in plave with any carriers... I think the N900 is in the $575 range. The positive side is that its unlocked by default, but that's obviously not much consolation.

I doubt (given the price) it'll appeal to many people, but just thought I'd mention that there is another great phone out there.

Funny I just bought one last week. Very cool phone first phone without a real full keyboard, so that is taking some getting used to. Main issues are the keyboard and the battery life sucks. if is fine if using as normal phone but if u start running apps and videos it eats up quick. Got 8 gig sd card easily loaded all my music and pics on it. the android marketplace is similar to itunes store. Hope this helps.

Don't rely on Sprint Navigation though, does not find the satellite a good 1/4 of the time.
As mentioned already in this thread, battery life is terrible.
Also, browsing is a bit slow from my perspective... not sure how it compares to others though.. I know browsing on a 4 year old pcmcia card/verizon connection on a laptop is faster and was faster 4 years ago. Would also prefer a bigger phone for browsing the internet.
Not having video/adio recording is annoying but i'm guessing Sprint will add that capability over the air relatively soon.

I like my BB as well, although the web browser (BB browser or opera) is shit compared to top-tier phones (iphone, pre, android, n900).

I do like that the blackberry just works... Very stable and the keyboard on my 8330 is the perfect size (even for my bigass sausage fingers).
