i know, i know...lend money, consider it gone.

say you lend a buddy a couple dimes. on the initial transaction you agreed on $25 a week. now, i have a history with this guy taking forever to payback.....but when we are in a casino and he busts out, he's looking for cash.

anways, he has paid me a total of $150 in 3 months, and that was bugging the shit out of him.

he's got money for his "new" flame. once he gets a chick, he pretty much forgets about everything and the his world evolves around this one chick.....once the chick is gone, he is looking for a hand out.

i have bailed this guy out on more than one occassion. more recently, with a car.......but anyways....

thinking of just cutting ties with him all together, and if i lose the money....lesson learned

Deep in your heart you know what you have to do. Sounds like it's down to a matter of respect. You're nobodys doormat.

I remember the money owed thread, still waiting here .. bill down to 2800 and change after he buried himself with my local for 6 dimes...

just passed the 2 year mark... work with the guy and he stil gambles everyday, but really no other way to get the money than patience, lesson learned hopefully....

I'm there with ya. Have close to $4000 loaned out to various parties. Of course the second I try to get some of it back since work is behind schedule on payments and I owe some cash I get like $150 committed to pay me back.

lets see, u have bailed out this guy on more than one occasion.

u lend the guy a couple of dimes. agree on 25 per week. that means he's going to pay 80 straight weeks.

something tells me he's not good for it and you know it and still gave him the money.

Yea, pretty much in a nutshell.......but we have been "friends" for 20+ years. but he has wore out his welcome more than once.

When he is in dire need I am there, period....not no mo......

what comes around goes around.

i'm done asking him for the cash. when i do i am met with hostility any ways.....if i get it i do, if not....his loss

It's funny how almost nobody will pay back borrowed money. It never fails, even if it's only a few hundred.

I lent someone $300 last December and told them they could give me $40 a month if they wanted. You know how much I've been paid? Nothing. While the person goes out and buys shoes and flies down to the Bahamas.

your best bet is to try to recover SOME of the money and never do it again, obviously.

catch him on payday and say "give me 50 ill knock 100 off the debt" . people, especially gamblers, have to feel like they are getting something out of it, a profit, to pay back a debt sometimes, its sad. but at least you get some of it

Sound like loaning money to him is affecting your friendship, so don't do it anymore and just stay Friends.

Unless you are a banker or owner of a state-regulated lending outfit, there is rarely any such thing as "lent money". It's "gift money" and if you're fortunate, they will return the favor at some future points.

I'd cut ties with him. Or if you can, just be friend but never lend him a penny.

My mom has lent money to people and too many have split and never paid it back. Makes me so angry that people are like that.

So I'll never lend more than $20 to anyone if I had to. I've never had anyone want to borrow money from me but I'll know to never do it. It's a lose lose situation for the one giving out money. You are basically giving money away.
