Dez Bryant suspended for season

My question is what exactly did he do wrong? Is there a rule or something against socializing with retired NFL players? Someone please educate me.

I am pretty sure when you are in the NCAA and you have contact with a retired professional you have to fully disclose it to the NCAA and he failed to do that.

Dez Bryant stays suspended for season

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State says wide receiver Dez Bryant will remain suspended for the remainder of the football season.

School officials announced Tuesday evening they were informed of Bryant’s status by the NCAA. He will be eligible to play in September 2010.

Cowboys spokesman Kevin Klintworth says the university is appealing the decision to the NCAA Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee, but declined further comment.

The university announced on Oct. 7 the junior was declared ineligible for lying to the NCAA about his relationship with former NFL star Deion Sanders.

A top NFL prospect, Bryant caught 87 passes for 1,480 yards and 19 touchdowns last season while also scoring twice on punt returns.
This season, Bryant led the team with 17 catches for 323 yards and four touchdowns through OSU’s first three games.

My understanding is that the problem is his lying to the NCAA/investigators during the investigation of his contact with Deion.

As far as I've heard there haven't been any violations found with respect to the contact with Deion.

Yeah he was worried that hanging out with Sanders might be a violation so he lied about it. Did absolutely nothing wrong but just wasn't sure and didn't want to condemn himself for something that turned out to not be a violation. Suspend him for a game for being dumb but the season is way overboard.
