This past Friday I pulled a muscle in my back at work. I waited it out over the weekend and up till Wednesday and it never got better. So I goto my Dr and he basically tells me what I already no (major muscle pull). He gives me steroids and a script for muscle relaxers and tells me to take Ibuprofen. He also tells me it could take 4-6 weeks for full recovery. Soooo, now I'm out 4 days+ of work and I don't want to go the comp route cause it's a huge pain in the ass and you don't even get paid for the 1st week your out. On top of that it's my brother's company and he's so far in debt and can hardly make payroll (times are tough for everyone). So he can't afford to compensate me in any way, which I can understand, So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.. I'm hoping I can go back Monday. Would you have filed if you were in my shoes?

no way I wouldnt file if it would hurt family, no way,,,

but you should call your cousin, and let him know what is happeining, you should ask for something Very reasonable, like,,, 2-3 paid days off,,, or even better, a week of half days,,,

Thats super fair, and you have no perminant dammage, sooo,, thats a fair way to handle family,,

No, it's Your Brother.

You might even be able to work with the drugs in your System
Not sure what kind of work we are talking about.

BUT, on a side Note : Your Brother pays for Comp Insurance, so I don't think it will put him in More Debt. ( I think )

Should have clarified, It's a painting business.

Your hurt and unable to work. The last thing you want to do is go back hurt and hurt it even more. Like BAS said that's what comp insurance is for. Go on comp immediately.

I own my own company. A brother, cousin and nephew all work for me. You bet your sweet ass they're going on comp. That's why I pay it ( plus it's the law ). What if it's something worse. A long term problem. Then you are screwed. You got hurt making him money.

Hell yes file that is what your brother pays workmans comp for, plus it protects you down the road if you have future problems with your back if it is related to this accident.

Many small businesses don't pay the workmens comp to save money. I would file if I'm you Cheater. Back issues are very dicey.

Well after all the teasing and joking of past couple years, it may finally be time to actually start selling ad space on your kid's forehead

cheater, so heres the thing, my advice was predicated on the fact that your bro would care for you as you would care for him,,,

as it seems that is not the case, you are in a tough spot,,,

You gotta level with him man to man I think, and say look, we gotta figure something out that is fair,

so YOU TELL ME what YOU think I should do. File? dont file? help you out with a little extra $ to pay for meds? Then shake hands like men, and agree that the issue is settled,,,

I know I made it seem simpler than what Im sure it is, (family stuff is always more complex)

but now in this scenario you put the ball in his court and you BOTH kept integrity,

you may have to rest for a few weeks, then call BARMAN and start a landscaping business,, lol,, its great money!

the US equivalent of RObax Platinum iis a great back pain drug.

The prescription version of it is basically a double dose of the the drugstore version. So if your in pain you can save yourself a prescription fee.

Claim claim claim. You are done with the painting business anyway.

Family or not.... you may not be 100 % ever again, also you can throw the back out in same spot for the rest of your life.

Claim claim claim and get the physio.

Its your future here

SUCK IT UP BITCH! It will take up to 6 weeks to feel better. Get ahold of some vicodin works wonders and you can still perform at the job

Cheater don't even try to go back to work with that back. Backs are a can be a serious problem that can take over your life. I have a friend who has had incredible back pain for YEARS. He has to go to the Mayo clinic twice a week, surgeries left and right, a complete strain on his life all from lifting milk crates at work. I'm telling you don't push this thing it can ruin your life.
