Everything just goes against you and no matter how well your team plays or how good the bet looks, it still finds a way to lose.
Lets look at some examples from this weekend
1. Indiana + 17.5- beating iowa the entire game, completely fall apart 4th qtr. Ok..... your still getting 17.5 you can lose, you can lose by alot, just dont get destroyed. down 11 with under 1 minute left and Indiana is still calling timeouts as iowa tries to run out the ball. what happens, a 30ish yard td run on 3rd or 4th down with 30 seconds left. indiana loses by 18.
2. Titans/Jags Over 44. around 800 yards off offense in the game, 3 touchdowns of 75+ yards, surely you can hit 44 points combined. Jags Miss extra point, game ends at 43. awesome
3. Marshall/UCF 1h under 21- game starts off slow, neither team can run the ball, 0 pts 1st qtr. Im sitting pretty. Then slowly in the 2nd qtr you get a touchdown, then another touchdown, followed by a fg. its late in the 2nd qtr and 17 pts on the board. UCF goes for a fg (its ok, still only 20 if he makes it), the kicker hit the ball off a players helmet and marshall runs it back 60+ yards the other way. Marshall 3rd and goal under a minute left fumbles the snap and qb gets sacked (wooo, another fg attempt), wait whats this, offsides on the defense, surprise surprise. get another down and punch it in for 7 untouched. 24 pts 2nd qtr.
4. Lakers -3 2h. You come out on fire and win the 3rd qtr by 16 pts @ home. Things are looking great. I only need you to win by 9 to cover the 2h and your up 22 to start the 4th qtr. But like the Lakers of every yr, you pull your starters and your team goes to complete shit in the 4th qtr and 2nd stringers look like high school players. Back come in the starters and all is well, your up 16 points with under 2 mins to go, but you seem to have no desire to run clock or a set offense. Ron artest is jacking up 3's like its going out of style, and the hawks score 8 pts straight to cut the lead to 8 pts with 26 seconds left. now you just busted your ass to get it to under double digits, and what do you do when you get it there, YOU DONT FOUL. Lakers dick around with the ball to run out the clock and fisher misses another trademark 3. lakers win by 8, lose 2h by 1.
