not often enough to stop them from staying in business

As the player, you have little chance of facing any criminal charges

Yes. Typically they don't go to jail, but a local I have known for a while did unfortunately. Not to mention the poor guy is a paraplegic, and already sentenced to a wheel chair

a local I was using was busted in the 80's, we were all concerned for a few days.

He happened to be taking action from Hartford Jai Lai players. There was an investigation / sting set up pertaining to the fixing of games at the fronton, and he got pulled into the mess.

Nothing happened to any of his players except for the Jai Lai guys.

No but I've known a couple of guys who lost to him, didn't pay, and then threatened to turn him in if he didn't leave them alone.

Classless......

no, but a generic local at a bar i used to frequent and would use sometimes, got busted before in the bar by an undercover. I heard that someone that owed him tipped the police off. From what i recall he just got cited , like a small fine.

Interesting stuff on Gary Kaplan.

Why does the DOJ go after this guy, when there are a million other online betting sites out there?

How can all the pros who own Full Tilt Poker get away with owning Full Tilt?

They actually own the software through an llc and license it to full tilt, which is run by an offshore corp. Probably just a front for Howard L. & co. All very shady...

Funny story...a bigtimer here in Chicago that I used for many years was pinched. I called in on a Sunday to check my figure and it did not sound like him on the other end so I hung up. Waited a few minutes called back and still did not sound like him ,but asked for lines...He was 2 to 4 points off on all the lines for foots. I hung up again and called the Main man and said "You have a problem." he was not aware of it until I called....Busted and did sometime....I was scared to death for about 3 weeks waiting for the Feds to bust me..Talked to one of his partners and he said they did not get anything, but it was a bit scarey for sure
