Went up to Canada for a hunting trip.

There were 6 people, B, D1, D2, M, J, Mike

Here is how it played off, the gas and groceries were all put on D1's credit card.

Gas - $1491.80
Groceries - $647.21
Maps - $100

The cabin was $500, however D2 paid the $200 deposit out of his pocket before the trip. D1 paid $300 at the end of the week for the cabin.

B paid $43 out of his pocket for a miscellaneous expense.

Also, because D1 took groceries home he wanted to be fair and give a $60 credit on the groceries.

Can one of you math whizzes figure out what each of the 6 people owe?

Here is what I came up with;

D2 - $336, B - $418, D1 - $236, Mike $453, J - $453, M - $453

For some reason I can't get it to work out completely right.

D2- 246.50
B- 403.50
D1- 156.50
Mike- 446.50
J-446.50

$2739- D1 $50($10 food credit to other 5 idividuals since D1 took the food) - B($43) - $500 Cabin(D2/D1) . = $2146

This can't be right. D1 paid $300 for the cabin, but he shouldn't be $300 less then the others as he still owed $83 for the cabin out of that so I could see 217 less, but not $300.

easiest way is this

all (other 5) owe d1 413.17
all owe d2 33.33
all owe b 7.17

do this

collect 453.67 from everyone then give 200 to d2 and 43 to b. D1 keeps the remainder, or just take it off of what they owe

trip is $456.50 per person. D2 still owes $244.50, B $401, D1 $216.50, Mike 444.50, J 444.50, M-444.50.

actually i left out the 43. trip is 463.67 per person. so add 7.17 to everyone above. or just do it how el taino did.

Three Men and a Hotel

Three men decided to split the cost of a hotel room. The hotel manager gave them a price of $30. The men split the bill evenly, each paying $10, and retired to their room.
However, the manager realized that it was a Wednesday night, which meant the hotel had a special: rooms were only $25. He had overcharged them $5!
He promptly called the bellboy, gave him five one-dollar bills and told him to return it to the men. When the bellboy explained the situation to the men, they were so pleased at the honesty of the establishment that they promptly tipped the bellboy $2 of the $5 he had returned and each kept $1 for himself.
The Problem: Each of the three men ended up paying $9 (their original $10, minus $1 back) totalling $27, plus $2 for the bellboy makes $29. Where did the extra dollar go?

They paid $25 in total for the room, they got back $5 bucks...= $30

The $2 came from the $5 they got back.....It should be apart of $27.....It's the Bellboy that got Screwed ! :ohno:

You're suppose to minus the 2 from 27 not add it. That problem has been around forever and people always over analyze it.
