Movie : "Law abiding citizen"

What did anyone think of this? It seems like most of the critics dislike it. But most everyone who has seen it seems to like it.

Me personally, I thought it was great. One of those films that gets you to think about what you just saw.

Gerard Butler is a bad ass and awesome in that role.

Its a good movie, it is absolutely better than most out there, Jamie fox is a great actor,,

been wanting to see this. i take nothing that "paid" critics have to say seriously. they are paid off by these majors productions to say what they want them too.

I agree. I never base what I see or dont see on anyone elses opinions. There have been movies that I have seen and liked that other people have absolutely hated.

yes, these are the same people that gave Gladiator 2 stars. after that i have never once looked at what critics have had to say

It was 2 hours of my life I'm never getting back. I read quit a few reviews that it was a good movie. I watched it and was disappointed. If any of you actually think that was a "good" movie, I have to believe you haven't had the opportunity to watch many "good" movies. Most of the scenes were completely unrealistic. You'd need quite the imagination to believe any of those scenes could actually happen in real life. If you're in it for the special effects that's one thing, but a waste of 2 hours in my opinion.

Very good movie in my opinion but a little confused on how they tried to suddenly turn bad guy Jamie Fox into the good guy at the end & vice-versa Gerard Butler.

Despite the what the guy kept doing in revenge, the character player by Jamie Fox was STILL clearly the bad guy by letting the killer walk in the beginning simply to keep his conviction rate high. That's exactly what they wanted viewers to perceive, and we did, then they did a switcharoo on us at the end......:think2:

Let me add..Jamie Foxx is a multi talented individual who I believe even won an Academy award for "Ray'. But he needs to stick to comedy or rap or movie's more realistic like "Ray". He wasn't exactly convincing as a police detective.

I don't listen to what critics say and recommend. If I did, I'd be watching art house movies with subtitles only probably.

I learned all about arts "critics" when I was a senior in high school and given the "entertainment editor" beat for our school newspaper which was published twice a month.

Beginning in the first month of school year I received about a dozen record albums a month sent free to my school office.

And in second semester after I turned 18 years old (the cutoff age in Texas at that time...1978) I had a couple of times where a pretty hot college age record company rep took me out for free dinner and drinks.

Guess which records got the best reviews?

Just came back from the movie. I liked it. Yeah it's sometimes hard to believe but that's pretty much every move. I didn't like how it ended though but good movie.

I thought it was of the 2 best movies I have paid to see in the last year. The other was Inglorious Basterds.

I'm not there to believe or disbelieve the action. I'm there to be entertained. Liked it a lot.

definitely one of the years worst movies, jamie foxx, sleep walking, on his best day isnt much of an actor. unrealistic, unimaginative, drivel. nothing here that hasnt been seen over and over again. things blow up = great movie {?}, it did big box office so everybody is happy. maybe if the studio invested just a little $ in writing, then ending would have made some sense.

I thought Foxx was outstanding playing Ray Charles in the movie a few years back...:toast:

That makes no sense. You think the studio paid them to say bad things about their movie?

Critics pay attention to plot line, dialogue, and acting skill. Most audiences pay attention to boobs, explosions, and more boobs. The fact that the critics found it lacking in quality doesn't mean they are getting paid. It means the public is generally lacking in taste.

Ya. Never heard him rap. He is a comedian / actor / singer as far as I know. Unless there is something I am unaware of.

I am not overly impressed with his acting either. But his stand up and singing is pretty damn good.
