LINCOLN, Neb. (AP)—The mother of New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain(notes) faces up to 20 years in prison when she’s sentenced next month on a felony drug charge.

Jackie Standley pleaded no contest Monday to an amended charge of delivery of a controlled substance, according to court records. The 44-year-old Standley was arrested in May after selling a gram of methamphetamine to an undercover officer at her Lincoln residence.

Standley originally was charged with a Class II felony, which carries a maximum sentence of 50 years, but the prosecutor reduced the charge to a Class III felony. She’ll be sentenced Dec. 16.

Phone calls to a number listed for Standley went unanswered Tuesday.

The Yankees play Game 6 of the World Series against Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Yes, that is the ticket, putting her away for 20 years. Wow, I expect to see a tremendous drop off in murders and rapes in the entire nation.

I don't know why people keep using that case. If you have ever driven on the Causeway going into Miami Beach in the morning, you will know how easily you are blinded by the sunlight.

There are many better examples.

Driving on the Causeway with a BAC of .126 is still a crime at sunrise, high noon, or moonlight.

If it were such an open and shut case, then why was he given only 30 days. I am not say he isn't guilty, but when going to trial/court you have to take into account all factors. If I recall correctly the person had crossed the road illegally (could be mistaken).

yep....one gram

Next time you buy some coffee, take one of those sugar packets and pour half of it onto the table in front of you.

If it were meth or crack cocaine, you could get 20+ years for selling it.

Drug war hysteria ramped up first during the late 1980s (crack cocaine) and then again in the past decade (street meth) has inspired legislators to pass the most incredibly draconian sentencing in U.S. history.

Meanwhile, over the same time period of the past 25 years, not a single person who really wanted (or wants) to score crack or street meth has much trouble hooking up within a couple of hours max.

some mo...may not like him or rap but its real talk

you see one in every 100 americans are locked up
one in every 9 black americans are locked up
and see what the white guy was trying to stress was that
the money we spend on sending a mothaf**ka to jail
a young mothaf**ka to jail
would be less to send his or her young ass to college
see, and another thing the white guy was stressing was that
our jails are populated with drug dealers, you know crack/cocaine stuff like that
meaning due to the laws we have on crack/cocaine and regular cocaine
police are only, i don't want to say only right, but shit
only logic by riding around in the hood all day
and not in the suburbs
because crack cocaine is mostly found in the hood
and you know the other thing is mostly found in you know where i'm going

but why bring a mothaf**ka to jail if it's not gon stand up in court
cuz this drug aint that drug, you know level 3, level 4 drug, shit like that
i guess it's all a misunderstanding
i sit back and think, you know us young mothaf**kas you know that 1 in 9
we probably only selling the crack cocaine because we in the hood
and it's not like in the suburbs, we don't have what you have
why? i really don't wanna know the answer
i guess we just misunderstood hunh
you know we don't have room in the jail now for the real mothaf**kas, the real criminals
sex offenders, rapists serial killers, s**t like that
don't get scared, don't get scared
I know you saw one them sex offenders papers
don’t trip he live right on the end of yo block,
Mhm yea, that nigga live right down the street from you,
sex offender on the level 3 drug,
convicted ex-con
yea check em out

Can't see a judge sentencing 20 years for a stinking gram. Wonder if she has any priors.

UP to 20 years. Read the article, gentlemen. She'll probably get 1 year, and 5 years probation or something of the sort.
