2-1 or 3-1 on the postseason.
4* New York Yankees -182
This feels a little bit like destiny to me. The Yankees come back to NY, their brand new stadium, with a chance to close out the series in front of the home crowd and Andy Pettite on the mound facing his old Red Sox nemesis Pedro Martinez.
With yet another big hit, A-Rod has broken any doubt of a World Series slump and now he comes back home in front of his fans with confidence to put to rest all of the choking past.
Jeter is the man at Yankee stadium.
I can go on and on, but the bottom line tonight rests in this:
The New York Yankees bullpen is better and in a game between 2 starters who figure to go 6 innings max, the bullpens will play a huge role. Blanton, Madson, etc are just straight throwing righties and the Yankees feast on that kind of pitching. The Yankees will see righties all night, nothing tricky, and a long gone version of Pedro Martinez, without his explosive stuff.
Pettite is the winniest pitcher in postseason history for a reason, the guy knows what it takes to get people out when it counts. I like the left on left matchcup on Utley and Howard to slow down the LH bats in the Phillies lineup.
Victorino has issues with his hand.
The time is now. Mariano has 2 innings in him tonight if they have a lead.
Yankees at home, with the better bullpen, the better lineup, vs. a Phillies lineup with a major injury hole in the 2 spot in the lineup.
Destiny prevails. The evil empire wins.
Yankees 7
Phillies 5
