P.O.S. Toshiba Laptop that I had purchased roughly 4 months ago.

The screen had a large scratch on the inside of the monitor for the past few days, now today there is 3 of them and what looks like "ink" has spilled throughout the inside of the monitor accompanied by lots of intersecting lines as well.

Have been having problems with this about a month after I bought it. Have to send it in to Toshiba to fix now, which would be covered under warranty if it is "normal wear and tear". I think I know how this story ends, with them saying that I dropped it (which i did not) and making me pay to replace it.

Called some local shops to see how much it would cost to fix, and it could be anywhere from 350-500 dollars. Feels bad man.

I had a similar problem with a laptop screen. A friend grabbed it by the screen and it broke inside. You could see the liquid spilled. They fixed it thought cause it was under warranty. I had accidental coverage though. So if you have that you're safe.

Dont have accidental coverage. They said it would be covered if it was normal wear and tear. I sometimes grab mine by the monitor, after I buy a new computer I guess i'll have to stop.

Haha i hear you there, although i dont want to buy another one after just purchasing this.

I dont see how the computer itself can cost 450 out the door, yet the monitor is 350-500 lol.

Buddy M i would appreciate it!

There are a ton of monitors on there right now. Just bet your model number and mfg and try that. You can bet someone to put it in where you are. Will keep looking.

I had old Dell, local guy buys all kinds of dead laptops, and he fixed it for 110. Check Craigslist, more guys who do it on the cheap on there.

Did you try ebay. There are thousands on there. Just put your MFG and model number and tons will prabably be available. Just went in again and saw the one i bought going for 85.00 new. I bought the last one for 100 and paid 35.00 tohave it put in and gave it to my son. I had dropped it and it was broken. it was only about a year old. I go through notebooks like candy. We have three at my office and two at home. I am a complete idiot when it comes to these things and i somehow just screw them up.Was told by a tech to just fool around with nthem and that is the best way to get aguainted with it. Oh sure. Well everytimke i do that i mess something up. Installled Micro 7 yesterday and it took all day. Should have taken me one hour.Installed Firefox becuse ie was running so slow and it is really messed up.Oh well

buddy,

I was just told that Toshiba would repair my screen for the cost of $425--this is more than I even paid for the entire computer itself.

I'm not too good at finding this type of thing online, you think you can give me a hand trying to locate a new/used monitor?

It is a Toshiba SATELLITE L505D model.

That is the same screen i was just looking at. I wouldn't try putting in myself , but was told by a mom and pop operation up the street from me they would do for 60.00 and quarantee. There are also others on there. If ebay isn't your choice , let me know and i will find another one . There are a lot listed if you google them. Just put in model Number and mfg and it will give you about 50:dancefool choices.
