you are winning 42-17 last game of regular season, ball is on the 15 yard line its 4th down with 20 seconds left.

If you kneel the game is over.

If you kick the FG your kicker will break the club record for most FG's in a game and TIE the all time record.

So would you give your kicker the chance at tieing the record and getting the club record?

or would you kneel and end the game?

Mack Brown, Texas do the right thing in easy win.

Longhorns coach removes Colt McCoy with more than nine minutes left in 35-3 rout of Central Florida, with the quarterback three yards shy of school single-game record for yards passing.

Given the choice of getting his quarterback a school record or playing it safe and sane, Coach Mack Brown and No. 2 Texas took the high road in a 35-3 win over Central Florida.

Brown removed Colt McCoy with just over nine minutes to play, even though the senior was only three yards short of matching the school record for yards passing in a game.

McCoy completed 33 of 42 passes for 470 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.

Brown said he decided against putting McCoy back in the game to show sportsmanship and because of the possibility of injury.

We wonder if any member of Brown's staff had input in the decision. The school record McCoy fell shy of is owned by Longhorns quarterback coach Major Applewhite, established in the 2001 Holiday Bowl against Washington.

Both of McCoy's touchdown passes went to wide receiver Jordan Shipley, who had 11 catches for a school-record 273 yards.

This exact scenario happened in the Montreal game yesterday and the coach decided to kneel meaning the kicker did not get the CLUB record and was not able to TIE the league record.

He actually had achieved the all time points record in one season earlier in the game

Mike Leach would have his QB throw a pass into the endzone.

think this had anything to do with texas -34.5?

lol

what a joke :toast:

it is very interesting how some of these spreads come into play with moves like this.... considering if it were game 1 or 2 of the season tex would aim to win by 60 minimum against a scrub.. mccoy woudlnt come out till 4th quarter 5 mins left. if that..

also .. its kinda funny how the computers didnt like texas "close" win against mediocre ucf and woudl be interesting if texas would have scored maybe 50 pts if they would have maintained #2 ranking

just some food for thought -
