Any of you smart folks in here have any insight as to which way the market would go should this bill eventually make it's way through the house and senate?

Something tells me that the market would have a serious yank back.

Maybe no affect at all?

just another small step as america as we know it gets flushed down the toilet

as for market who knows they already got enough shit to worry about...outside of the health care sector (no clue who wins and loses)....don't really think it matters

i like how these bastards pass this shit on a saturday when everybody watchin football or something like that and not paying attention....they know full well the majority of americans against this

think main reaction might be a negative in the treasury markets as this means more debt....

More debt at this time may just be the straw that breaks this faux rally. It may not make it out of the Senate but I wouldn't count it out.

Either this administration doesn't care or they are tone deaf. There will be a tidal wave of Republicans storming in in November 2010. At that point the economy and unemployment will probably be even worse.

Double dip recession is on the way. Boys on the street make money running the market up and then make money on the way down.

i'm actually kinda shocked how fast they throwin' away their power or so it seems

when the last depression came

FDR and the dems held it for a long long time

but its kinda a different circumstance at the same time

back than government wasn't already heavily embedded in many aspects of society and the economy.....there were zero backstops like UE pay, social security, medicare etc....

now they are very embedded so the struggle to gain even more power and control over the people is a bit harder to sell now

the problem for the dems is if they don't have a cult of personality POTUS running its hard to get the youngin's to come out and vote....plus the obamamania is slowly crashin' and burnin' on its own anyway....and people are waking up..

that's why they lost recent elections...crappy turnout and the youth doesn't care unless obama yo mama "hope and change" is runnin'

anyway its all a side show anyway...its a one party system in the end...

How come all of the other first world countries have healthcare programs covering their entire population without suffering the doom that you guys are forecasting?

Communism and socialism on a large scale just lines the pockets of politicians and in our case large corporations that have alot of lobbying power

Not to mention all the military spending so the allies who are our buddies don't have to worry about spending in that area

In smaller countries where the system isn't corrupted by lobbiests and big corporate fascists it can work ok

In America it will be a complete disaster

Socialism at the state level in the us is ok it's more local and there are more checks and balances so those really in need get the help they need

On federal level it doesn't help the little guy at all

All the stumbling blocks you mention are real, however, like building a interstate highway system, a national park system or a armed services system a healthcare system that covers all of our citizens is not a choice but a necessity if we are to remain a country worthy of any respect.

Since all the other nations are able to do this at a per-capita cost of roughly 1/2 of what we pay, one would think that there are some improvements that could be made.

too many middlemen and too easy for people to find the weaknesses in the system to further their own benefit at the expense of everybody else

This is why communism and socialism on a large scale throughout the history of man has failed to give the little guys a better life and create equality all it does is create even bigger inequalities

All your socialistic concerns should be handled on a state to state basis every state has their own needs and such amongst the populace and they can better target what areas are in need and what isn't

Rather than the federal government just randomly throwing money at problems

Our system was set up like it was for a reason

Our founding fathers knew by looking throughout history that big government sucks nards

The federalgovernment should take care of national defense and not a whole lot else

Let's the states keep their money and use it at a local level however they see fit rather than shipping the money off to Washington have lobbiests and corporate fascists legislate the spending and than what ever is left after the middlemen take their cut let the states fight over

there will never be any socialistic utopia with 100s of million of people working hard and doing there best and helping out those in need..give up the pipe dream punter

Just like there will never be any anarchist utopia with no rules and everyone fending for themselves and those in need will be aided through kindness by those doing really well

Both will never work in the real world only will on small scales

There needs to be a balance between the two which is what happens when the federal government stays out of our lives besides a few necessities like national defense

Give the states their rights and let them do what their elected officials determine is best for their state and keep the socialism close to the source

I dont think big govt was a problem in 1776. Totalitarian govt was the problem (and at any level that was too big). Our form of govt was more modeled on the Greek and Roman govt than any other. I have yet to see anything in the constitution that defines what our economic system is to be.
