Golf Magazine: "Phil is better than Tiger"

Cameron Morfit, senior writer, Golf Magazine: It's interesting the way Phil and Tiger's long, multi-faceted relationship is trending. Tiger used to own Phil like Hideki Matsui owns Pedro. Not anymore. At this moment in time, Phil is clearly the best player in the world. The question is, can he sustain it into 2010 and someday overtake Tiger in the ranking? The way Phil is putting, anything is possible. He seems reborn.

Isn't Tiger still ranked #1 in every category? We'll see. Personally I'd still bet on Tiger over Phil for a full season and for any single major.

A headline like that will get Tiger motivated for next season. I actually think Tiger is not too much into Golf as he is into making the money right now. I think Tiger will own a Sports Franchise within the next 5-10 years, either in the NBA or NFL. And the best player is still Tiger. All you gotta do is watch the Odds when the next Major Tournament comes out. The Odds makers are not Bias...lol

They make titles like this simply to stir things up. Everyone knows Tiger is superior.

thats the kind of thing a WRITER would say....not a logical person whom also gambles. if phil is better now, literally, this writer ass would lay me a price (fair odds, not an overlay) reflecting phils superiority over tiger, in each event of the 2010 season. but writers write...they hafta say something, even though it's usually nothing. what a simpleton.

When they are both at the top of there game, Phil is better. It is just that Tiger is more consistent.

Thanks for the laugh. Phil being better then Tiger is one of the most ridiculous statements I've heard in a long time. Uh! How many majors has Phil won? How many seconds in majors does Phil have? How many tournaments has Phil won and he plays in more each year?.

Absolutely ridiculous. Tiger fell short in the majors this year. Phil dominating these end of the season tournaments means nothing. Talk to me in April at Augusta.

WOW, I have heard it all. Tiger is the most clutch golfer in the history of the game. No golfer will ever touch some of the records this guy will set before he is done.
Phil is not even marginally close to the talent level of Tiger.

Right now, this is much closer than you guys think. Phil has been spotting Tiger 5 or 6 shots per tournament on the greens for the last 5 years. Since going back to the method he used as a kid, his results and psyche have improved greatly. If they stay in their current form, next year's majors will be off the charts. You aren't going to see Tiger -300 or -400 over Phil anymore. He is the only golfer in the world that isn't afraid of Eldrick, and has the length and short game to compete. By the way, I think Tiger Woods is the greatest player to ever pick up a golf club.
