i loved the old pregame shows that used to be on in the late 70s and 80s..The ones today bore the heck out me. Every network overdoes it with so many former players talking about the games and overtalking one another that I find it almost unwatchable.

Amusing for me was that the primary sponsor was Tuborg brewery... they're still huge here in Denmark, but do they still have a US presence?

Ever watch ESPN's 2hr pregame from beginning to end? The lead story is recycled atleast 4-5 times throughout the broadcast. And relevant pretaped interviews that were on sportscenter throughout the week get insterted as well.

Not very slick.

thanks for the youtube clip! .....saw the Scot van pelt clip there as well and was curious if he really did get upset at kenny mayne or that was part of the show? he did seem genuinely pissed though.

NFL Football was so much better back in the seventies and early eighties. The NFL has become a slick product and ESPN ruined it. Too many games air now. MNF used to be special. You could depend on great games with Oakland Raiders on NBC late in the afternoon. Big hits, no flags. The NFL is bloated today with over analysis and replays. Remember the Los Angeles Rams, The Houston Oilers, The original Baltimore Colts. No Panthers or Jaquars. The Arizona Cardinals playing in the NFC East. Joe Montana beating the Bengals in Pontiac Michigan.

Anyone remember "Countdown to Kickoff". I think it was on Saturday afternoons. It had to be around the mid-60s. I think I remember Tom Harmon being the moderator, but I was a little bugger at the time and just beginning to get into football. I remember it had a catchy intro tune.
