i'd rather force him to go 70 yards than 30....of course if they get the first down it's a moot point....i have great respect for bellichick, but all i can say here is wooooooowwwwww

How about the thug move by Smellichek's bodyguard at the end throwing the camera man down. Pure class all around....

Stunning.

He thinks his D has no chance of stopping them needing to go 70 yards or so? Come on. Nuts.

Looking forward to hearing his explanation. That was one of the most stunning coaching decisions I've ever seen.

It was the right call.

Making it is an automatic win. The difference in the chance of winning between a stop and a punt was less than the chance of making it

play the percentages. 4th and 2, you got brady and an all star offense going up against a tired and beat up colt d. you either go for it and win it, or punt it, and let manning drive down the field for the win.

the timeouts were the horrible thing, especially bradys first timeout.

Surprised, YES.

Shocked? NO.

Im sure Bill went to his defense first. They were tired and winded. He had a better chance to get the 1st down and end it.

I still think Faulk had regained control in time & got the first down. It sure looked like he was across the yellow line on TV.

The NFL rules are really stupid due to the fact that the refs dont have the authority to go to the replay booth to review a play like that to get it right. Imagine if that occured in the Superbowl. Replay should be allowed to be used for shit like that.

at least he's not on the hot seat. a lot of coaches would have started working on their resume's after that.

personally i would've punted there, but i agree with the strategy of making the first down as well. at least bellicheck has some guts, and thankfully i didn't bet on this. wish i had hammered the over though.

i agree it was the right call...i argued with my brother and my buddies here that it was the right call....THEY dominated the game...2 yards to win the game...with the best offense (now) in football...

....what PISSED me off is...when they didnt get it...they should have LET THEM SCORED the TD....bc it would have given them the ball back with plenty of time to march down the field to win....my friends didnt understand how you could call off the defense to let them score...and i said its easy ive seen it done before in college...and this was a college type game with 2 great offenses and the last team with the ball wins....

People are defending the call because it was Bill B. and they assume he's smarter than them and wouldn't screw up. If it was someone else no one would defend it. It was a terrible decision. Plain and simple. It's not like it was 4th and inches either. 4th and a long 2. You can't give it back with a short field like that.

The hell are you talking about? NE was up 6! If they were up 2, I might agree with you, because they would just set up for a FG. But up 6, allow a TD? Is this crazy season at RX? WTH is going on here?

I actually thought it was the right play as well...however, my reasoning for it, didnt play out.....

I figured his thought process was, either we make it, and win the game, or if we dont, then the Colts score faster by the short field, and we have time to move back for a FG to win..

However, the linebacker made the mistake of tackling the RB at the 1 yard line with over a minute to go.....once they are that close, let him score, then u have brady, moss, welker and 1 minute to get a measly fg...

thats why i figured he did it, but then the defense didnt let them score, so my reasoning for it went out the window
