Belichick is by far the best coach in NFL history when it comes to game management.

Watching the Miami-Tampa game sunday it was like Tony Sparano and Raheem Morris were having a compeition to see who could out idiot the other. Its just shocking how stupid NFL coaches are when it comes to decisions. That Belichick is getting heat from the idiotic media and public isnt surprising, what he did was way above the common thought, but its sad to see. It was a statistically correct move thet improved his teams chance of winning. They also converted it but got fucked on the spot.

I'm getting tired of people defending the decision and saying it was a simple math problem. I'm also sick of hearing that the Pats were 60% to convert the 4th down.

I'm so tired of people talking about the percentages of NFL teams converting a 4th and 2.

What this doesn't take into account is that many 4th downs are done against a prevent defense with one team trailing very late in a game. For instance, the if the Browns converted a 4down tonight at the end of the game, that would get factored into the percentages. I'd say a 4 and 2 conversion in a game thats out of hand and one team could give a shit is a lot different than going on your own 28 yd line against one of the best teams in the NFL in a one score game.

Belichick going for it last night is indefensible. It is beyond words, and cannot believe how many defend it. If it was Norv Turner, people would be lining up to ridicule the guy.

Ya, he did a great job of managing the AFC championship game in 2006, when they had a crucial too many men in the huddle call during their last drive which could have ended the game.

Great job of going for a 4th and 14 in sb 42 instead of kicking a manageable FG indoors.

Belichick has done a lot of stuff that has worked out, it isnt like he is 0-1 on smart moves.

He gives New England a large edge over the other coaches in game management.

I liked how he did not spill the beans as to why he did what he did. It was a pure math decision, but no reason to help educate the competition.

of course he's done a lot of stuff that has worked out. i wouldn't want anyone else coaching the pats.

however, i think this was the wrong move, and will criticize him for it. the misconception locally is that if you criticize this move, you don't like or appreciate belichick.

None of this takes into account that its on your OWN 28 yard line, which would decrease the % that you should even think about going for it

and like i said, the nfl average for 4 downs takes into account all those in garbage time against prevend defense in games that have been long decided.

Illini, it is 60%

Mr. Smith it doesnt matter if it was 60%...It was a STUPID call ..PERIOD. 95% of ALL coaches at EVERY level of football would punt the ball if they are up by 6 and it is fourth and 2 on thier own 28 with 2 minutes left to go.

VERY DUMB MOVE by Bill, probably his worst. I would put that up with Marty Mornhinweg taking the wind in OT when he was with the Lions......

P.S. I also beleive he is the best coach in NFL history.

I suck at math, but I don't argue with it.

Good luck everyone, I have said my peace.

What's the percentage of TD's when a team starts at the other's 28 yard line? I bet it's pretty fucking high. It was an AWEFULL call.

conventional wisdom is.........., well conventional wisdom

it simply can't be explained or reasoned with, it is what it is, and that's that

Bill Belichick wins football games with astonishing success. Suffice to say, 99.999999999+% of his detractors don't. Those who can, do. Those who can't, talk like they can.

Just don't waste time trying to reason with conventional wisdom.

A fake punt might have been a better call since he knew he wanted to go for it before the play began...

IMO very, very bad decision...tells his defense that it can't be trusted...

Yeah I'm sure he was checking the advanced math before he made this decision.

It was dumb and wrong - period.

It all came down to him being worried. He did not want Peyton to beat him. Well he did.

If he had converted, he would've been called a genius.

Brady used to own Manning, now the tables have turned.
