<!-- P2P_LIVE_EDIT "content_item_body_preview" START -->BERLIN (AP) — Former basketball star Dennis Rodman was temporarily detained in Germany for allegedly skipping out on a €3,400 ($5,100) hotel bill for a post-game party, a prosecution official said Monday.

Senior prosecutor Juergen Bauer said Monday that Rodman had played in a "USA Legends of Basketball" exhibition game in the western town of Trier and threw a party afterward at his hotel.

The prosecutor said the organizers of the game had agreed to pick up the tab for Rodman's overnight stay at the hotel, but not an additional €3,400 for beverages consumed at the party.

When Rodman left the hotel Monday morning without paying the tab, the hotel director contacted the police, Bauer said. Police found Rodman's stretch limo on the highway and detained the star.

Rodman then paid the outstanding bill along with an additional €1,700 to dismiss possible legal proceedings, the prosecutor said.<!-- P2P_LIVE_EDIT "content_item_body_preview" END -->

Good god. Dennis. It's one thing to be a 16 year old kid skipping out on Denny's bill but this is ridiculous.

doesnt say anything about the tip...maybe it was included since it was a private party thing

Dennis was simply confused. He thought he was invited there for the "Legends of Partying" exhibition and the ballgame was just a side activity to fill time before the postgame Main Event.

You don't generally tip at bars in Europe.

The pay must be decent then ?

If I were tending bar ( again) I'd prefer being tipped to an hourly wage/ salary.

just got back from germany a nd austria if the bill was 25 euros which is about 30dollars then the tip should be 50 cents................

I don't get it, I'm not a bartender in Germany.

At least this guy pays his 47k lunch bill.

I've never done it, so I can't say what the pay is, but it will certainly be above minimum wage. If I had to guess I'd put it in the region of $12-$20 an hour for a newbie, depending on the place.

I have some bartenders/waitress from this area brag on Rodman. He supposedly is a total gentleman and a generous tipper.

obvious he thought the game organizers were picking up the tab, why would someone worth that much money try to skip out on it?

Yeah, that guy's a billionaire. Look at the bill, most of it is wines. Rich fucks probably getting wasted. Three bottles of wine for $15k. What a joke.
