I've got a Sony Bravia I just picked up. I use regular comcast but have a blueray player with HDMI cables I picked up off of monocable.com

the monster cables are overpriced. Personally, I don't use an HD receiver because even at my ages I can't tell the difference.

When I'm watching a movie I'll use the blu rays... and it is great at 1080P but not any better then a regular DVD in my opinion.
but I could be an idiot I guess or just have poor vision

I know Monster Cables are overrated. That's what I thought about the receivers. Matt, know anything about HD radios, worth the price?

I actually bought Monster Cables the first time I bought an HDTV for $140. What a waste. Turns out all HDMI cables are the same. You won't get a higher quality if you buy ones that are $200 over the $10 ones.

Monoprice.com is great for cables - very inexpensive. Never looked into HD radio, so sorry I can't help OP. If you don't get any info here, there's always the avsforum.com.

I have Comcast and have 3 HDDVRs'. Can't do without them as it is so easy to program into memory games that I want to rewatch in the future to study for upcoming match-ups. I have 52 inch, 40 inch and 32 inch LCD HD televisions, all Samsung, with the large one being calibrated. I use only HDMI cables, both those given for free from Comcast with each receiver as well as Monster HDMI cables for Blu-Ray players and other player/receivers. The two larger televisions are 120 Hz and the contrast ratios very high. I rarely watch anything but HD channels now as Comcast has broadened it's number of channels. There is a clear difference between HD and Standard signals.

I really can't notice the difference between upscale DVD and BLU Ray either. I use my PS3 slim to watch movies which has both great upscale and Blu Ray and when I pop in a Blu Ray disc to watch, I really can't tell that it's different. Either my eye sight sucks or maybe my LCD TV is too small to make use of the increased resolution.

I have a 1080p TV and the HDMI cables hooked. It's all set up properly.
I just don't see much of a difference between a regular DVD and a Blu-Ray one.

Rob, do you rent blu-rays? Do this, rent Baracka or Planet Earth on Blu-ray. Trust me. If you don't see a difference it means your tv ain't working right.

Rob:

I see a huge difference between a standard DVD and a Blu-Ray. What is the size of your screen and has it ever been calibrated?

I rent Blu-Rays. Netflix charges an extra 3 bucks a month for it.

I got "the taking of Pelham 123" in the mail today on Blu-Ray which just came out. Maybe I will see the difference with this one.

The other Blu-Rays I rented were older movies, maybe that was the problem.

Blu-Ray is like wearing 3D glasses while watching the movie. Watch Transformers or anything released as of late and it should look excelent.

I'm not very familiar with HD radio. I do have a friend that purchased and HD antenna for the HD TV channels, and he rarely uses it as he has a set top box now from Comcast

I do remember reading up on hd radio when it was coming out and I dont remember it being pushed heavily by the FCC but they were making it mandatory for the HD signal to be better than regular analog.

I don't know know anyone who uses or has used HD radio
