Do Many Out There Still Believe Lebron James Is Better Than Michael Jordan?

Cmon guys, it's time to be realistic.

How does Lebron do most of his scoring?

By using his size vs smaller opponents & getting to the basket, or ending up on the free throw line.

What happens when the years catch up to him and that size & quickness combo he uses to get to the hole so much wears off a little?

What will he rely on then?

He doesn't have the outside shot that MJ had.......He doesn't have the post up game & the famous fadeaway shot that Michael had....He doesn't have the defensive talent awareness that MJ had (Although his D isn't bad)......And I don't think he'll ever have the overall intelligence of the game that MJ had.

Is and will Lebron go down as one of the great players?
Yes

But is he in the same category of probably THE GREATEST ever?

Lebron is a much better blackjack player than Jordan. He hits 16 against a 7, and Jordan doesn't.

I think if you can find someone in here that will state
that they think LeBron is currently better than MJ was,
that this whole forum would laugh them into oblivion.

MJ was a slithery guy who used his hops and quickness. Probably had the best ball handle I have ever seen.

Lebron uses his overall size and athleticism. Big dude with a lot of speed. Ridiculous upper body strength.

Both are freak talents, that goes without saying.

They both play the game really well. And utilize their talents to full advantage. I'd like to see Lebron with his own Rodman and Pippen before I pass judgement. I thought James put on a good show the year the Cavs went to the finals.

I think a lot of younger folk, like myself, who know about Jordan but didn't actually watch him play are in the Lebron > Jordan club... Its understandable, when you've seen so much of James and relatively little of Jordan. They are very different players also, I've seen Lebron be unable to take over a game as consistantly as Jordan did, and that's why I don't put him at the same level.

I'm not from the school that such arguments can be won or lost, but I do like to play devil's advocate.

I'm pretty sure Labron has accomplished more than MJ did at his age. MJ didn't win chit for his 1st few years, and he was older when he entered the league.

I like both players.

I cant disagree with any of that. Lebron is great.

But when comparing players from different eras you have to look at the whole body of work.

And as of now, its not even close.

Lets have the discussion in 10 years.

He doesn't have the outside shot that MJ had.......this is crap, when Jordan first came into the league his outside shooting wasn't that good. At the same age LeBron is now, Jordan 3-pt% was like 16%

He is a much better passer than MJ was and also a better rebounder.
Probably will be a lot better shot blocker tha MJ when it's all said and done.

I don't hate LeBron at all, I think he's the best player in the league
right now, but to compare him to Jordan is just plain stupid.

Like the earlier poster said, wait 10 or 15 years and then start talking.

The way Cleveland played tonight, it's going to be another year
that LeBron doesn't get a ring.

He shouldn't but he will because NBA and Media will make it so. He is not as good as the hype.......King James hype was built up by nba and media for obvious purpose........

Don't get me wrong...he is a very good player...better than many out there.....but he is not as good as touted.

I never thought Lebron was better than Jordan. Jordan is the best basketball player in history with Kobe second to him.

I remember watching Jordan play as a young kid, he just leaves you mesmerized. He loved the game and he had a killer killer instinct. Kobe has that killer instinct but Jordan just had that ''thing'' that leaves him on a level by himself.

You loved to watch Jordan compete, you loved listening to his interviews, he was one of a kind. It's as if he took every game personally or something if you know what I mean.

The King Is Just Getting Started

LeBron James has been followed closely since his days as a high school phenom at St. Vincent-St.Mary. While attending the high school academy, James earned the nickname "the chosen one," and many believed the future success of the NBA rested on his shoulders.

With Michael Jordan retiring and Kobe Bryant embroiled in legal trouble, the NBA badly needed a superstar. Despite the pressure, James rose to the occasion and seemingly overnight became the beloved son of the entire league.

We enjoyed watching him turn around his hometown team and fight for a championship. Although James had many successful seasons in Cleveland, the Cavaliers failed to win a title, yielding The Decision and the anti-LeBron sentiment that has become commonplace.

When James left home for South Beach to team up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, many said he threw away his opportunity to be the greatest basketball player ever. After all, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird never left their original teams to go chase rings with other stars.

Even James' teammate, Dwyane Wade, won a title for the team that drafted him. The only problem with this theory is that LeBron would have NEVER won a title in Cleveland. He never had the star teammate the aforementioned superstars had. James made the right decision if his desire was to win.

Should his individual legacy be tarnished because he teamed up with two fellow stars? I don't believe it should. LeBron should be judged on his overall game just like everyone else. Barring some major injury, James still has the opportunity to be the greatest ever.

The 2011 NBA season has exhibited that. Yes, James received backlash for his decision but responded with a spectacular performance this year. He kept his stats in line despite playing alongside two stars and also improved his mid-range jumper.

When James' career is over, he may boast the best stat line in history. Many said Miami would have to wait a couple years before winning a title, but the Heat are likely to take the title in James' first season there. That means the seven titles he promised are very possible.

The world is also taking notice. In 2011, James' star-power seemed to reemerge.*Whether people hate or love him, they are talking about him and following his every move. James is still the face of the NBA. He delivered the highest ratings for the NBA*on cable in history in*Game 1 of this year's*Eastern Conference finals.

He currently has the NBA's top-selling jersey and basketball's top-selling shoe. The only thing James needs to complete his portfolio is multiple championships. If James does indeed win a*title this year, we can only expect more rings to follow. Then, James' quest to become the greatest ever picks up steam, and only time will tell where he ends.
