This was in overtime France vs Ireland to qualify for the world cup. Blatant double hand ball the keep it in bounds. One of the biggest cheating moves in history. His celebration afterwards was sickening.

This "goal" knocked Ireland out and advanced France. 2 players were offside to begin with. two. then this awful flat out cheating

Most blatant missed call I have ever seen in soccer....

Instant replay would really slow the game to a crawl...no need for it....

I don't know how blatant it is. I can't get the link to come up, but looking at the loop above it's not obvious to me he actually touched the ball. He had his hand in place to do so, but the ball doesn't seem to change its spin.
(OK - just checked out youtube on another clip -- pretty bad).

Forget replay, soccer has resisted adding refs.

They use one ref. 22 players a huge football field and one ref isn't going to cut it.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again, Soccer is every bit as fixed as the WWE.

Not a missed call by any means. Mob job is the better word to describe it. Everything in those Euro Qualif 'Playoffs' was rigged. For the first time ever they said that 'top' teams can't play each other in the playoffs. So, France (horrible in their group), Portugal (horrible in their group) and Russia got the 'easy' opponents (Ireland, Slovenia and Bosnia). They just have to have Ronaldo, France in South Africa next year. Henry not only used his hand but he was also offside (not called but very obvious) when he got the ball just before the goal. The latest news have Henry admitting the use of his hand. Ireland is asking for a new game but I'm 99.99% sure that it will not happen. Michel Platini is one of the powerfull soccer guys right now and he is a frenchie. Very bad for soccer what happened in the playoffs.

I was at a soccer bar watching this yesterday and it went from being a party to a funeral in a matter of seconds.

Why only one ref???

Whenever you wonder why, the reason is always MONEY.

In most countries, the soccer leagues are only profitable at the TOP LEVEL.

In Sweden, for example, I bet most teams in the 3rd or 4th division aren't profitable. Leagues are also in bad shape. They can't afford two umps.

All they have to do is say all INTERNATIONAL matches and FIRST (or Premier) DIVISION games need two refs ... but FIFA is very hesitant to make different rules for different levels of soccer.

A funeral? In Cambridge (from what I heard) it was more like an angry mob with %&^*& and %$#@&^% in every sentence.

How friggin hard is it to just have instant replay on such important calls??? This would have all been settled if the ref could have gone to the video and clearly scene the hand ball ... or even the clear offside to begin the play!!

I have never heard a good reason why there is no replay in soccer from FIFA

Well what I meant was it was loud and crowded in the bar and when the game was over the bar emptied and it was extremely quiet. Unreal turn of events.

They filed a complaint for the loss. They said they want a "replay" now. Get real. You lost

Don't blame Henry. He made the mistake and owned up to it. It's not like he deliberately did it knowing he would get away with it.

Blame the crooked FIFA. They are just like the NBA. They give special consideration to who they want to win.

Are you crazy? Even in that animation the ball is going up then suddenly stops when it hits his hand..

Also there is 1 ref, 2 assistant refs (linesmen) and a 4th official (who sits with the substitutes/coaches)... In the Europa league this year there are 4 assistant refs on the goallines, which probably would have fixed this case.

First they miss the offsides then the clear double bubble hand pop and still they cant make the call. But honestly, FIFA wanted France to go to South Africa much more than they prefered Ireland to go. It was sad though watching Duff and the other oldies on Ireland knowing this was their last chance to play for the cup. The Luck of the Irish!
