OT: Computer Help

My laptop is running extremely slow. i cleaned out my cookies, and ran a full system scan, restarted, and it's still puttering along. not horrible, but definitely not up to normal speed.

any suggestions?

Save the files you want on a flash drive or somewhere else and then reinstall your operating system using the CD that came with the computer.

yep. do this. (reformat)... (it should be down atleast 2 times a year IMO anyway)

reformat should not be your first option. if you have a good recent backup (and everybody should) you could use that

is it just the internet loading slow or is it also slow when working with programs like word or excel and at start up and shutdown?

Maybe buy a new computer if you're running Vista, sell the old one to:

spend $350, get windows7, get $150 ( ?) back for the old one, a new battery, fresh keyboard,better O/S, for maybe $200 total.

I sort of believe in trading in laptop computers, since that place gives you decent money for them.

Press CTRL+ATL+DEL and take a screen shot the processes and post it.

Silly question but is your virus scan running? OR google desktop indexing both will slow you down

if this problem started recently.....and out of the blue, do a system restore to a day or two before the problem started (this is asuming that you run xp or vista)
