How long for a foreign cheque to be cleared? I received a euro cheque from germany and my teller told me it has to go to some bureau that might take weeks. Anybody have thoughts on this?

If my bank took more than 5 days to clear anything I'd find a new bank. Ive never seen more than 3.

Get a new bank. They will determine the validity of the check within 2 days and then hold on to your money for a month and charge you stupid fees.

Is your bank in a poor neighbourhood? Same thing with food stores.

hahah my excuse my q with the cheque lol, kinda get used to it. My bank is tdcanadatrust. I dont know about the checks coming out of the province but this was my second time issuing a check that is related to internet gambling. The first one was from last year which came from Quebec and that took 3 weeks to be cleared. This is a new one since it came from click2pay in Germany and its in Euro.

Betfair takes a month before they put the money in your account when you send them a check, even though it clears in a few days

Damn! Thats a hassle right there:ohno: I will miss the boxing day here for sure if that what is, i could have chosen moneybookers as the option. Worst part is, im having a difficulty contacting them either through phone or e-mail. Im talking about this german click2pay company.

it all depends on canada's laws toward internet gambling, here in the US on december 1st a new law passes that makes it illegal for banks to cash those kinds of checks, which sucks but at least we still have moneygram and WU

Absolutely right erwinmark...

PLEASE dont send Betfair cheques - send Betfair a Bank transfer!!!
Also, the cheque may get lost in the mail!!

There is also the Entropay virtual Visa card that you can use now...which works great!

Betfair also DONT like sending cheques out to folks so I totally understand why you are having issues.

Betfair have a local Canadian Bank which they use via Entropay. Bank transfers take a couple of days now and are only $5

I have had trouble with RBC, will this work? Like Moneybookers won't let you transfer from RBC for gambling some b.s., will this? How do they handle the currency, I don't see an option for the looney?

RBC, Scotia, TD all work on Entropay

Hey erwin:

All of the problematic banks work with the Entropay Visa card.

Choose US Dollars - If you go a little further through the process, you will see that you can actually get the money transferred into Loonies and Toonies!

We are also going to pay customers back for the deposit fees starting soon - we are just working the details out with Entropay. If you want to deposit sooner, please send us a message at canadamanager@betfair.com and we will manually adjust your account for the Entropay fees.

Thanks for info.

a few minutes

I tried it yesterday for the first time-it took me 3 minutes.

It would not accept my CIBC bank card (Visa worked fine), however so I asked them to check all Canadian bank cards - they tell me most bank cards work and all credit cards...

Good to know, the last card I tried from Money Mart, was a pain. I never did get an official card in mail, I made a dozen calls finally gave up!

I don't know how it is in Canada. But in the states you can cash a check at any check casing outfit in no time. They charge a fee but you eliminate a foreign mark in your bank account.
