just curious how often people on here get tired of the grind and bet say $1000 on a game when they are a $100 a game bettor, etc?

also when you do go alot bigger than your normal bet, is it bc you love the play that much or has something pissed u off (bad loss, forgetting to make a bet, etc)

Never, at least since I started taking this seriously. All bets are for anywhere between 0.5% and 1% (depends on the sport).

$100 is enough for me.

When I had a lot of money that was the house's money I blew $1,000 per bet. Needless to say I lost over $5k.

Once or twice a week, when I love the play. Hitting for a good percentage throughout the years or I wouldn't be doing it.

I started sports betting less than a month ago and started with a 60 dollar roll. That same weekend I hit a 30 dollar 5 team CFB parlay for 400. Ever since then I began betting 50 to 100 on any given day. I fucked up big on the Tulsa v UTEP CFB game and lost .5k! So I was left with .5k and blew thru that in 2 days trying to get the Tulsa loss back. Nowadays I try to keep it at 100 per bet and I might go lower if I dont like the play as much as others

In a word, never, been doing this for a long time, I understand how much work is involved to build a bankroll, and I'll be damned if I am going to cripple my working capital that took years to build on one single three hour game, I don't care if that game is lock city of the century to infinity, just won't do it.

These are words of wisdom! And by following them you wind up with more of this

With me i'm a 100.00 bettor, but will go out and put down 1,000 per bet when it's one I really really really like. Bowl game season is usually when I do this...because the lines are out for a good while and it gives me a lot of additional time to cap the matchups and the more I look at some games the more I like them. To say the least this isn't always a good thing.

how do you define "too big for your bankroll"?

can't afford to lose? never
more than I want to lose? often
more than my present level of mad money? more often

never on an individual bet, but on a Sat or Sun morning when I'm placing my bets for the day, I certainly don't plan on losing 2k, give or take

I do it all the time and for the kinds of reasons you mention. Certain things enrage me. For example, losing by the hook when I could have had a better line earlier. And forgetting to place a bet has burned me too. Of course the bet you forgot to make wins easily and the "make-up" game loses. Another thing that angers me is when I have a strong lean on a game but I don't bet it for some reason (reading an opposing opinion, etc.) and then the game wins. I've often felt that I "deserved" to make that money and have gone chasing it.
Your post is interesting because I didn't realize that there are others who respond similarly to anger and bad losses.
