Let's say there are 50 NCAA games on a single day, which means the linesmakers have obviously put out 50 spreads on the sides.

Do the linesmakers really come across 1-2 of those numerous games, and take the time to consider & say "Hey, let's make this spread -3 to trick everyone"???

the public perception in combination with the line is making it a 'trap', but its not the intentions of the linemakers imo.

a small road chalk wins, it's the squares cashing. if it loses, it's a trap game. hindsight is 20/20.

Maybe 30 years ago but with so much information out there nowadays I think the line falls neatly into place rather quickly.

Of course it's an intentional thing. Who the hell do you think the odds maker works for......YOU? Bookies don't make money by just getting the juice. They make money by having more money on one side than the other. Sure, they're not going to win money on every game that they're overloaded on, but they are going to win most of them.

Just take a look at the Colts-Texans game. Who do you think the public is going to take? Obviously with a line of "only" 3.5, they are going to be all over the Colts. Not only that, but they've made it the first game on the board which is the first game to catch everyone's attention.

That's the way I see it as well

I don't believe linesmakers take the time to ponder in trying to "trick" somebody.....

I think there are lines that are put out that garner one way action. I think that these games are profitable for the book in the long term.
