Question and Some Math Help Needed

Me and a Friend were talking today. I have 5 plays I like for this weekend. And we were looking at some parlay sheets he has. Was looking at some three teamers. We were discussing how to put each of the five teams together in different three team parlays. We came up with that are ten different combinations (correct me if I am mistaken).

Now, if I did this, for let's say $10 a parlay, at true odds (6:1)

If I hit 3 of 5 teams I would lose 30.
4 of 5 I would win 180.
5 of 5, I know would be 600.
-- Because I would have hit 10, $10 teasers at 6:1. (Again correct these if I am mistaken)

I'd like to know the advantages and disadvantages to playing something like this.

Thanks in advance guys.

I'm not going to check the math on it, but there are 10 combinations.

advantage to you in parlaying, if you pick at a high percentage, like 55% or higher.

I often use freeplays in this manner.

If you wanted me to read it you would not have put it in red.

Yes, there are 10 different 3 team combinations. As for the payout, I leave that to someone else to calculate.

Thanks Doug, it looks like the only advantage is if I can hit 4 or 5 I will make more than I would have playing straight. Just looking to see if anyone else has done something like this.

Punter-- I don't get it, but thanks anyway.

math is correct, but you use the term teaser at the end, when it is really a parlay.

check the lines, and be sure this 6-1, not 6 for 1.

The higher a percentage you can hit, the more you should parlay.

If you could hit 80%, then parlay your ass off.

Sorry, should sorry "parlays" at the end. Not "teasers". Thanks Doug. Appreciate it.

I'm almost certain this doesn't pay 6-1.

You give the card back to this bookie with $10, if it wins, he pays you $60 total, you won $50, not $60. that's 5-1. Your benefit is stale lines.

Yep, 60% is great, even on 5 bets. nobody hits 60% on a large number of bets, but if you can, then parlays are better.

80% is ridiculous, you'll never go 800-200, but 4-1 is doable

Got me thinking about parlays in general. Wouldn't do this with the cards. I don't play those unless I can find a couple games with 3+ point advantages.

if it pays 6-1, and you get stale lines, you've got a sweet deal.

Thanks Akillies, one of my 5 plays is a +3 dog. I may just ML them so the odds are better.
