Anyone still pay bills the old fashioned way? I can't remember the last time I wrote a check. Saves a ton of time. Once you get all the payees set up it is a breeze. And I get 10 cents for every paperless transaction. I've talked to some that say they don't trust it but it is the safest way to bank.

I still have to pay my homeowners association dues via check four times a year, but every other bill I pay online.

I use so few stamps in a year that everytime I do use one I have to double check them to make sure the price of stamps hasn't gone up. As far as checks, I'm still using the same book of checks I had five years (and three addresses) ago.

I had more problems with putting checks in the mail than I have ever had with online bill pay (zero).

yeah

Plus you save 44cents for the postage stamp....And you save time licking the stamp and finding an envelope to put it on

And you don't have to lick the envelope and seal it

And then you don't have to open your front door

And walk all the way to the mailbox

And then walk all the way back

And then have to open your front door AGAIN to go back into the house

Online bill paying is definitely the bomb

How will you feel when this happens:

1. They take more than you owe.
2. Their system is hacked and your account is drained.
3. You cancel service and they continue to charge you (24hr Fitness special)

My bank guarantees all online transactions. I've never had an issue of any kind.

That's why I don't do automatic bill payments. I always manually do them.

And they can just get my checking account number off the check I send in the ultra-secure envelope that gets handled by dozens of trustworthy postal employees.

Just fine and dandy until my Cable company charged me four separate times for the same charge about a week ago. Now I have to drive to my bank to get my statement and then bring it to the cable company before they fix the charges because they say they only billed it once. About an hour of wasted time. Blah.

Bubby, is that you?? :)

Seriously, been using bill pay for many years, it's absurd to me that some people actually still write out paper checks and pay for stamps. Every once and a while I'll need to break out a check. For fixed monthly expenses billpay is a no brainer.

Since bill paying online is so fun, I am sure you all won't mind paying a UN vig.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is considering a plan to ask governments to impose a global consumer tax on such things as Internet activity or everyday financial transactions like paying bills online.

Presto, that doesn't surprise me. The US Postal Service has inquired about some sort of tax on emails (since this is their excuse for why they are losing money).

Anyhow, I pay most of my bills online. Only a few are "automatic" bill pay. I do write a few checks (condo homeowners association - on my rental property...and child support - for my 17 year old son)....

Speaking of which I had to pay my taxi drivers cell phone yesterday so I could call him to pick me up, and my drug dealer's phone today for similar reason. I love paying bills online!
