Heisman!

Look at the stats. The kid deserves the Heisman. If he played at USC or FLA he would win it hands down.

I understand the fact that you have to play for a "winner". But he helped pull Stanford out of the Pac10 basement.

TOBY FOR HEISMAN!

Only if he can catch the ball out of the backfield will determine if he makes the pro's. Fullbacks, if a team carries one at all, have to have that skill in order to make the leauge. No time to develop at all. No way he makes a special team.

heisman is either ingram or mccoy.

if bama beats florida ingram wins, if not mccoy wins.

if i had a vote though id vote for cj spiller. imo, hands down the best player and the most dangerous player in college.

9 rushes for 18 yards today against South Carolina does not a Heisman winner make...

Gerhart 2009 Stats:

311 carries
1736 rushing yards
Over 5 yards per carry
26 TDS

If he played at Florida, USC, Alabama, or Texas he would win it hands down.

Media hype mostly determines the winner. Thats why McCoy will probably win it.

Sanchez had his shot...

LOL..........My girlfriend is Hispanic & just saw me reading this asking what it was about.

Actually, in my opinion, Mexican Americans have been getting more & more athletic the past 15-20 years, from what I've noticed at least in our Central Florida area.

I'd say in another 15-20 you will see more solid players from their ethnicity in Football & basketball & probably will happen with the WR position before the RB position......

Lets not forget the great Jim Plunkett

James W. "Jim" Plunkett (born December 5, 1947 in San Jose, California) is a former American football quarterback who played college football for Stanford University, where he won the Heisman Trophy, and professionally for three National Football League teams: the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers and Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders.

He led the Raiders to two Super Bowl victories (XV and XVIII). He is the only retired quarterback to start, and win, two Super Bowls who is not also in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Plunkett was born to Mexican American parents with an Irish-German great-grandfather on his paternal side. Plunkett's father was a news vendor afflicted with progressive blindness, who had to support his blind wife along with their three children.[1] In an effort to aid the family's financial situation, Plunkett worked a series of odd jobs while growing up, including serving as a gas station attendant, grocery store clerk and as a laborer on construction sites. In an acknowledgement of his Mexican roots, Plunkett chose the fictional character of Zorro as his hero.

Prior to attending William C. Overfelt High School then James Lick High School in East San Jose, California, Plunkett showed his talent for tossing the football by winning a throwing contest at the age of 14 with a heave of over 60 yards. Once he arrived at the school, he played quarterback and defensive end for the football team, with his athletic ability also helping him compete in basketball, baseball, track and wrestling.

AMEN in reguards to PLUNKETT, the reason he chose Stanford was to stay close to home to take care of his parents.(<)<For all the right reasons, the year after Plunket won the Rose Bowl with Stanford-Dr. Don Bunce did the same.

I saw several white players at skill positions do well this weekend. The WR Coale for Va Tech was a force and made several great plays. Gerhart is an absolute beast. Then you have Shipley for Texas and Cooper at Florida who are very productive at the highest level of college football. It just seems that the taboo of the black athlete being far superior has grown so large that many coaches won't even give white athletes a shot at certain positions.
