-Please note that yes I am a Yankees fan, however, this will be a very well done article, even though I will bash the Red Sox.
-Please further note that all of this will come true and I will be laughing at the end of next year.
Like any good Yankees fan, I love watching Boston fail. Next year, I'm going to have a lot of fun.
The Red Sox are built to fail.
Lets look at my predicted stats for each player:
Jacoby Ellesbury, CF: .269, 5 homers, 55 RBI, 70 SB-All he has is speed. He is a very bad hitter. However, his speed puts him at a different level: He can bunt well and run well, and is always a threat at the top of the lineup. Despite his low average, he is a great player.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B: .280, 11, 55, 170 hits-Face it, Red Sox fans, Pedroia is no better than Robinson Cano. That said, Pedroia is still a very good ballplayer. He has a pretty good glove, and hits for a good average.
Victor Martinez, C: .330, 31, 101, 10 IBB-He will be the Sox MVP. He will hit for a great average, and even for quite a bit of power. He is one of the last bright spots in this line up.
David Ortiz, DH: .220, 29, 70, 80 BB-His power is going to take a sharp decline. He is still going to be able to hit in the clutch, however, and he will lead the team in walks. He will most likely get injured at some point.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B: .280, 22, 103, 6 ejections-His attitude will get the best of him this year. He will fall into a slump that he just won't be able to climb out of. He may even get injured. It will be Youk's worst year, and by the end of the season, his future in a Red Sox uniform will be unknown.
J.D. Drew, RF: .270, 15, 65, 100,000 disappointed fans-HE IS OVERRATED BIG TIME!!! Folks, you call him a power hitter? He struggles to hit 20 homers! Robi Cano is more of a power hitter! Melky Cabrera! Derek Jeter! His stats are the same every year: About .270 average, 12-20 homers, and 60-80 RBI. Not an all-star, and most likely shouldn't even start.
Mike Lowell, 3B: .300, 3, 40, 50 games played-Lowell will go down with a bad injury at some point this year. However, in his 50 games, he will be a very good hitter, and someone I don't want to face. His power numbers will decline as he continues to age.
Jeremy Hermida, LF: .250, 15, 50, 100,000 fans who miss Jason Bay and Manny Ramirez-A very similar hitter to Drew, except Hermida will have an even lower average. Welcome to your worst nightmare, Red Sox fans!
?, SS: I don't even know who will start here. Lets say it's Jed Lowery: .250, 2, 25, 110 games played-It will be bad.
Starting Pitching:
1. Josh Beckett: 15-8, 4.10 ERA, 201 Ks-An average year for Beckett.
2. Jon Lester: 14-6, 3.95, 220 Ks-Another great year for the young star.
3. Tim Wakefield: 5-9, 5.50 ERA, 50 Ks, 75 BBs-He looses much control of his knuckler, and his numbers flare.
4. Dice-k Matsuzaka: 4-6, 4.95, 150-He will get back some of his stuff, not all of it.
5. Clay Bucholtz: 1-5, 5.20, 10 balks-He will just loose it.
CL: Jonathon Paplebon: 2.50 ERA, 41 saves-Is this the highest ERA for some one with 40 saves?
Its not going to be a pretty year, guys. There will be injuries, aging, and just plain sucking. Have a great off season!
