Baltimore Orioles trying to get Rangers' Kevin Millwood?

By Mark J. Miller

The Baltimore Orioles are supposedly involved with the pursuit of free-agent pitcher John Lackey(notes) but it isn't believed that he'll end up in Charm City. The team is also apparently trying to snag Kevin Millwood(notes) from the Texas Rangers, according to FOXSports. The O's apparently asked Texas recently what it would take to get Millwood out of the clutches of the Rangers. He's pretty much the ace for Texas, going 13-10 with a 3.67 ERA in 31 starts last year.
FOXSports has it that the Rangers want to dump the $12 million Millwood is picking up next year for his work. That way they could make a run at former Chicago White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye(notes), who hit .250 with 27 home runs and says he'd be happy to move to first base.
But MLB.com is saying the Rangers don't want to move Millwood at all.

I don't know if Millwood is the O's answer.
He had a nice bounceback year last season going 13-10 3.67, and an above average 1.33 ratio.
He is a work horse, will give you 30 + starts, but what Millwood are you going to get? The solid pitcher from last year, or the one that stunk out Arlington for two consecutive years before that?
And at what price?

Millwood isn't the 25 year old pitcher that won 18 for the Braves ten years ago, and let's not forget there is much more hitting in the AL East then in the AL West, and will get lit up from time to time.
