Is the Monte Carlo in Vegas still nice "enough?"

I'm going there the first week in January, so are my parents. They aren't big gamblers (wtf is wrong with them!!!) but more want to go just to see a couple shows and just see Vegas (they were there once 20 years ago). They won't want to break the bank on their hotel room but I at least want to set them up with a hotel that has some cool stuff to look at?

It's this or New York New York are the 2 in their price range (outside of some other lesser places). I want them on the strip, any other suggestions? Monte Carlo is less than the Flamingo, Bally's, Planet Hollywood to name a few. I always considered the Monte Carlo better, yes/no?

Yes, the Monte Carlo is decent. However, there is absolutely nothing to do there.

NY/NY has plenty of places to eat and is a little easier in terms of getting to other casinos.

To be honest, if the prices between Bally's Flamingo (one of the few places I haven't stayed), PH and MC are the same, go with the least expensive one. I think they are all about the same. The advantage with Bally's Flamingo and NY/NY over PH and MC is there location. Not that it is that much, but I don't know if your folks are walkers or not.

I think they are all about the same, I just prefer the corner locations, if staying any of the above referenced places.

What types of shows are they interested in and how much are they looking to spend?

Thanks for the response. They are going to the Beatles Love show, I think the 2nd show will be a 1/2 price tickets type show, just roll the dice when we get there?

The best parts of the Monte Carlo are the location and the mattresses in the rooms. It's definitely not Encore, but it's not a dump either. It is nothing to write home about, but in my opinion, location is key when staying on the strip, so I think Monte Carlo would be a solid choice.

I stayed there about a year, thought it was fine, the price was good and like what was said earlier the location is great. Its next to the new city center (aka CASH COW) which might be something interesting to see. Best of luck.

You do know the definition of cash cow, right?

"In business, a cash cow is a product or a business unit that generates unusually high profit margins: so high that it is responsible for a large amount of a company's operating profit. This profit far exceeds the amount necessary to maintain the cash cow business, and the excess is used by the business for other purposes."

monte carlo is nice you dont have to stay inside the casino the whole time but for gambling and sleeping it is clean. i am sure you and your parents will have a great time. i actually like the fact there is not a whole lot to do besides gamble because i never have a problem finding an open table
