Two men robbed the Gold Dust West Casino sports book Friday morning, the Reno Police Department said.
The two men walked into the casino at 444 Vine St. about 8 a.m.. One acted as a look out while the other walked up to the sports book cashier and handed her a note that told her to give him money or he would shoot, police said. The cashier saw no weapon.

The suspect took money from the cashier and put it into a black bag and then both left the casino on foot in an unknown direction, police said.

Both suspects were described as black. One was described as being in his 30s, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 220 pounds, possibly with a mustache, wearing a black hat, a black jacket, oversized denim shorts, black shoes, white socks and dark-colored gloves. The second suspect was described as bald wearing a black-hood sweatshirt, a black jacket that went to his thigh and denim pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or detectives at 334-2144.

Gold Dust West General Manager Albert Johnson said the sports book is operated by the Club Cal Neva.

“This is the first time in memory that we’ve had a crime like this at the Gold Dust West,” Johnson said. “Our employees handled it well. And no guests ever appeared to be in danger.”
