I know it has nothing to do with big college football weekend but was just told our family dog, Sadie, a boxer, just passed away.

Two months ago the vet said she had a tumor growing on her heart. Because of her old age, there's nothing they could do about it.

In just a month after that she got really skinny and her feet were swelling. But she was still eating normally.

Last night I heard she wasn't eating now. I knew that wasn't good.

Today my dad took her outside, when she was walking back in she just fell over and stopped breathing.

Great dog. Looked mean with a big bark but super friendly. She lived a long and happy life.

She will be missed.

Thanks for letting me ramble.

I personally would have put her down two months ago. No need for a dog to suffer like that.

Glad you were able to enjoy many years with her. Sadly, some pet owners only get a few short years with their pets until they are taken from them.

Condolences Benny, I know it is never easy to lose a pet your whole family loves. We had to put down a Rotweiler last year when she came down with cancer at the age of eleven. My wife's now in their early 20s two kids took it very hard as they raised the dog since they were children.

they are definitely members of the family, and the loss always hurts...

as someone else posted, best thing you can do, is in due time, get another dog, not to replace this one, but to benefit the life of a shelter dog in Sadie's memory

Lost my in April after fourteen years. My son and I were just talking about her today. I miss her everyday but with the suffering she was having it was the right thing to do. Hang in there!

I am sorry for your loss. I have said it in other threads and I will say it again in this thread. Losing a dog is just as bad if not worse then losing a friend or family member. You spend if not the same, more time with your dog then almost anyone else in the world.

Was your dog named "Tebow's Championship Hopes" by any chance?

Seriously, sorry for the loss.
