Do open ended teasers that push the first leg need to be closed?

Depends on the teaser.
5Dimes offers ties win options, ties reduce options, etc.
You would need to win the back end to get a push on most though.

dealing with a local though. He says yes. I always thought if you pushed the first leg, the bet was cancelled if the second leg was still open.

I cant win now & can only lose or push.

correct, you want to tease something down to a key number (3,7) to at least have a chance of pushing.

Let me explain better........

I had SD -7 and Open on a teaser.

SD pushed, so I thought the teaser pushed.
He's saying no I need to close it out.
So, if I close it, I can only push if the second leg pushes or lose if the second leg loses.

Does this sound right? Or if the first bet pushes and the second bet is still open, it should push and I shouldnt have to fill it?

Vegas rules teasers = a push and a loss is a PUSH.

5dimes also offers some people these rules.

im not sure about this, what if the second leg WINS?

then you have a PUSH and a WIN, that should be a PUSH.... no?

Yes sorry I read it wrong, long day ;p

If you first leg loses, you want to fill the teaser and push the second leg to push the teaser.

If your first leg pushes, you want to fill the teaser and push or win the second leg to push the teaser.

Because of this scenario, in the olden days, before offshore, open teaser with a push is a loss. Period. Even if normally the book has a tie with win or loss no action.
