With 72 grabs for 922 yards and six TDs through 12 games, Ward is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career. "We'll see where it goes, but it's not favorable for him," Tomlin said. If Ward has to miss the game, rookie Mike Wallace would likely pick up the start. The Steelers, losers of four straight, figure to push Ward to be active for the game even if he can't practice.

"It probably will come down to the eleventh hour," coach Mike Tomlin said. "I'd say it's a mild hamstring issue but having a Thursday night game complicates matters to the point that we'll have to wait and see if he's ready." Ward owners need to protect themselves by picking up Mike Wallace this week as WR3 insurance.

The Steelers signed Tyler Grisham off their practice squad Wednesday, which strongly indicates that they don't expect to have their No. 1 receiver. The Post-Gazette calls Ward's hamstring strain a "grade-one injury," which isn't severe. Still, rookie Mike Wallace is scheduled to take his spot against Cleveland. If the ugly forecast (35MPH winds, 60% chance of snow) holds for Browns Stadium, however, the Steelers don't figure to be passing much.

"I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens," Ward said. "There is no tomorrow." Ward will test the hamstring before the game, but we're expecting the Steelers to exercise extreme caution. While weather is often overstated in fantasy decisions, Thursday's forecast a real concern for Ward's hamstring. Mike Wallace is only a low-end WR3 in a game where wind will play a factor in the passing game.

Ward will start, though he's clearly less than 100 percent and the -12 game-time windchill won't help him get loose. We'd give serious consideration to benching all members of the Steelers' passing attack in a game with wind gusts over 30 mph. Steelers inactives: CB Keenan Lewis, FB Carey Davis, S Troy Polamalu, OG Kraig Urbik, OT Tony Hills, DE Sunny Harris, and DE Nick Eason.

It's hard to believe Ward is back to 100 percent, though, and he had major trouble getting open last week in Cleveland. He's only a WR3 for Sunday's matchup against the Packers.

Hines Ward - WR - Steelers Hines Ward (hamstring) missed Steelers practice on Wednesday.
Ward had a setback at the end of his 126-yard Week 15 effort and is not certain to play against Baltimore. Mike Wallace will start if Ward can't go. December 23 - 6:42 p.m. ET

Ward reportedly had a setback with his hamstring last week, but he ended up catching seven balls for 126 yards. It doesn't appear that he's in any danger of missing this week's game against the Ravens. Feel free to use Ward as a WR2.

"He's just beat up," coach Mike Tomlin said. "We'll do the best we can to get him to the party. You know if he's got a chance, he's going to show up for this team." Ward took himself out of the game in the fourth quarter Sunday, though he said he planned to go back in if the team needed him. He's calling himself "day to day."

Ward often sits out Wednesday's practice, but missing Thursday's session is a legit concern for his Week 17 status. If he can walk, however, we're sure Ward will be suiting up. If the Browns game earlier this month is any indication, he may be doing more harm than good. Check back Friday for an update on his status.

He returned to a full practice on Friday, which is something of a surprise after the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that Ward is dealing with two separate hamstring injuries. Ward won't be 100 percent against the Dolphins.
