He doesn't take me as a person who can deal with pressure very well.

Going from the Big East to Notre Dame is not a step back. Do you realize this guy just went undefeated and didn't get a shot at the National Championship. The reason why? Who cares about Cincinnati football, and I really dont mean that in a dick way. But when you have a chance to go to Notre Dame and play the top programs in the upcoming seasons, you cant think twice. Who was Cincy's big non-conference game this year Oklahoma State? Give me a break. Who wants to play teams in the Big East? No one. Who wants to play Notre Dame? Everyone. In the next couple of years Notre Dame will be playing Oklahoma, USC, Army in the first ever football game played at Yankee Stadium, Navy in Dublin, Michigan, and many others (Missouri, Michigan State, Utah, Boston College, Pittsburgh). On top of that everyone of his games will be televised.

yea but with the restrictions on academics at notre dame, they can't bring in the top athletes, so it doesnt matter who you play if you dont have the talent to hang with them. out of conference schedule wont mean dick when your going 1-3 vs top teams or worse.

as for cinn not playing anyone, schedules are set years in advance, back when cinn was just a basketball school. In a few years Cinn would be a big draw for teams if it can maintain its winning ways. Soon nobody will want to play Notre Dame because they are just an average team and beating them wont do dick for the school, but if you happen to lose, it will hurt you alot.

I know many with think this is a shit comment, But he really screws over the kids that he recurited and now walks away. I understand we all may jump at a chance like this but it does suck for those kids, I think.

good hire for Notre Dame, glad he's coming.....i think he'll get things on track again..

but i do feel bad for the kids at Cincy right now...at least for the bowl game...wish there was a way this could have all happened after their game....they deserved to have their coach there and their full attention on one of the biggest games in their school's history

i think thats going to be his toughest task and biggest problem IMO. He's not going to be able to recruit the same players he did at Cinncy with the academic restrictions.

ND problem and this is just my opinion.......will be and has been depth at skill positions( wr rb)......they can get blue chip linemen a qb maybe one or two rbs or wrs......what makes the teams that have dominated the last ten years.....texas usc florida lsu oklahoma and even bama is they have numerous plug ins at skill spots.........no disrespect to ohio st who played in bcs twice(but that was by default).......these teams that win every year and contend every year have depth at rb and wr.......i wish kelly well i would love to see the domers on the map again...but unless academic requirements change i see the same song and dance....i hope im wrong

The Domers have one major advantage no other school has and I don't need to say what it is. For that reason alone a decent coach, like Kelly, HAS to take the money and opportunity.

What has really killed the Domers is the emergence of USC. Players from Cali can now stay in Cali. Mack and Bob suck up all of the talent in Texas and Urb gets who ever he wants in Fla and in most of the south for that matter.

But being able to play every week on national television is a killer weapon that far outweighs the academic restrictions.

Agree w/ all your points....except the last one.

It's not 1985 anymore...or 1995....or even 2005.

There is ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, Comcast Sports, CBS, ABC and a half-dozen other networks. Most major schools (especially BCS schools) play on national tv (or regional tv) every week.

So they're replacing an offensive guru with another one?

Unless Kelly becomes a hell of a defensive recruiter overnight, I don't see how his tenure will be much different from his predecessors.

This hiring was another panic move by Notre Dame.
