When you enter an address you will see a picture of that place. There's a little map with a little man on it - you can move the little man up and down the block if you need to. I just looked at my childhood home! Really nice website!

They need to update their maps. I just tried looking at a few houses and it showed me shots from like 2000 or 2001.

I agree, I punched in a Old address of mine and it only showed the Corner
So I guess it's a little off and maybe old.

But it was cool seeing the area again.

My neighborhood didn't exist 5 years ago plus it is outside of the metro area and Google didn't even do Street View in the town I live near.

Useful for metro areas, though..

If you go to

Yahoo Maps and enter addresses, it will offer a "street view".

Though not complete, they have the bulk of most major population centers done over past two years.

We live in a townhome within a cul-de-sac. And when you pan through to our block you can tell it was last Jan/Feb due to the trees. In the morning because of the way the sun shines and no cars in the public parking slots.

But my truck is in the carport. I guess I was asleep after long night of Rx handicapping....yeah....that's the ticket

Also fun when we pulled up SheBar's sister's address in Long Island. When you pan the camera down their block, her sister and brother in law are walking arm in arm with winter coats and her sister is smoking a cigarette.

These pictures were recent. Atleast where I live. I saw that because a few months back da city began fixing our sidewalks and streets. And when I entered my adress. I saw the wet cement they were laying down.

I believe that's Google maps barmeister. They even have cities around the world.

I want to visit Europe in 2010. This is helping me decide which cities I want to visit since I can actually see what they look like.

I'm moving to Aus soon and have been using Google SV to check out neighbourhoods and apartments that I'm considering. Truly a great tool for that kind of thing.
