I posted my situation of my condo being foreclosed on... I don't own it, I just rent... However, after talking to my current roommate, he has decided to move back home to save some money to buy a house in 2010.

Well My girlfriend and I have really loved have a dog around (its his). It's a very handsome Jack Russell. So once we move out, we will need to find our own dog...

I am NOT a fan of big dogs. I know as a man, I am suppose to, but I dont... If I could pick ANY dog, it would be an english bulldog. I like lazy dogs, smaller dogs. But I wouldn't not be too upset if they are somewhat active. Just not jack russell active.

We do NOT have a fenced in back yard, although I don't mind walking them and giving them some physical activity..

Any Suggestions

i know you said you don't like big dogs, but i can't think of anything better than a Rottweiler. Smart, strong, and very enthusiastic.....

2 drawbacks on mine and they're both my fault because i didn't teach him better: he gets excited and wants to jump on people. he has gotten better recently as i've been working on this, but if you have small kids around it is definitely something you have to teach them when they're a small pup. when it comes to women, he seems to be as tall as the nearest set of titties when he greets them with his front paws. 2nd drawback is pulling on the leash -- i'm strong enough to deal with it but i worry about it if i ever have to rely on someone taking care of him. forget all the horror stroies of big dogs though --they love people.....he can't wait to greet someone at the door.

there is this good looking dog that someone lets run around that i see from time to time. it looks like a small fox, very inquisitive looking face -- he and my big dog get along well.....small dogs that bark a lot and are aggressive i can't stand.....for some reason i have to suppress a strong desire to kick the shit out of them....

probably not the recommend you're looking for.....

best breed on the planet :103631605 I'm on my 2nd my first one passed away and I don't think i'll own anything but Rottis for the rest of my life.

As for the original question.... I can't stand small dogs but i'll share what I do know...

English Bullys are expensive as hell and develop health issues which can be costly.

Shibas are kinda cool lookin like sooner said but they are standoffish and if you don't work your ass off on socializing them they're not great dogs.

I kinda like the look of a beagle but they're brutal to train. Jack Russells are smarter than a beagle but aren't the easiest to train either and are usually very active...

Look up a westhighland terrier... smart as hell... its the big dog in a little dog body. You don't have to give it the gay ass styling that the breeders give it but you keep it trimmed normally and it's a cool little dog. It's what i'd get if I wasn't strictly a big dog guy.

i agree a 100% on rotties, the one i have now cost $300.....after watching my friend's adult Rottie a couple times and being amazed at how well he listened, i decided to get one.....

as far as the shiba, the one i've seen around my neighborhood is a good looking dog.....a couple times i walked past with my dog and the shiba approaches us slowly, but with confidence.....hasn't barked a single time.....very cool dog, but i don't know anything about them.....find it hard to believe that the owner would just let it go, as there's knuckleheads that drive 20 miles over the speed limit around here....

most large breed dogs need to be exercised though.....i know Rotties develop hip problems and whatnot, i make it a point to either give him 2 good walks a day, or at least go out in the back yard and throw the ball around.....he loves running after it

don't tell me that's a silky terrier.....my brother has a dog looks just like that....shrill, obnoxious barking non stop.....hard to house train.....chews on stuff.....requires regular grooming.....

he got it thinking it would be an easy dog for him and his family, but after meeting my dog he admitted he was envious.....

lmao yeah its not the most manly dog around but what little dog is but the bully. You shave it down and its not that bad and they can be pretty badass, my exes sister had one and that thing used to think he could take on my rotti all the time. Every one i've run across same thing, they're mens dogs in a chick friendly format but I hear what you're sayin while i've liked every one i've run across I don't know if I could really ever get one.
