Don't they sell cigs real cheap on the Indian reservations near you?

no reservations, just two casinos, about $12 pack there. We don't really have Indians in CT. Drove the Indians out to places like Az, centuries ago. @):)

Gotta really suck when the cost of Slow Suicide gets jacked out of common man's reach.

Yeah, Obamacare can't afford to let people live so long.
Look forward to parity for cigs and heroin in the near future.

The problem is in the shipping. Only the USPS will ship cigs...no UPS,Fedex, etc. Other carriers voluntarily ceased shipping tobacco products.

One gov't agency isn't going to help smokers avoid state taxes, and screw over another gov't agency, forever ! USPS is leaking money bad, so I guess they continue to accept any revenue ?

The end is near for this.

I think I'll quit now, or switch back to BM's brand ?

It's taxed to death, now.

I can see smuggling cigs being an upcoming business. A vanful from Kentucky to NYC type of stuff. Can't be anything close to the penalties for MJ.

The big guys like Phillip Morris will help push through the legislation that make online sales illegal. Nothing more, nothing less.

Obama will see the bill on his desk (even though he is a former smoker himself) and say yea smoking is bad and sign off on it.

It's a removal of an American freedom and commerce. But that's OK I have become used to that with the Bush Admin.

I don't see why PM would want that, Rob. It's strange that USPS is the only shipper of what is the modern equivelant of bootleg whiskey during prohibition. If USPS can ship it, why not UPS or Fed-ex ?

I assume they make the same profit selling their smokes in Kentucky or NYC. It's up to the states to collect their state tax. If I quit smoking, and others do the same, PM sells less product, no ?

It removes competition. You can't buy the real cheap smokes.

You are left with a run to the convience store in which case you are more apt to buy their products.

Online sellers sell Marlboro and other major brands, not just generic. Many will order Marlboro online for about $45/ carton instead of paying $80. Many smokers are insanely brand loyal, and will only smoke Marlboro light king box, or whatever.

Sorry,Rob...I have to disagree here, PM should not be against online cigs.

Would you quit, if you had to pay full price ?

a pack a day smoking habit is nearly $3,000 a year at $8 a pack, that could be 10% or even more of net income for people making 30k or less a year.

Nearly a car payment/lease....at some point it becomes too expensive. :smoking:

You still are not getting the point I am making.

Many people who use a service such as the one I posted above are not buying Marlboro. They are mostly buying inexpensive brands you can't get in stores. You throw them out of the picture, you have more business coming your way.

I think you are assuming this ?

I don't know if online cig buyers buy Marlboro or some off brand like Seneca.

Any stats to back this up ?

I know plenty of guys that won't smoke anything but Marlboro red, or whatever.

Smokers really tend to settle into a brand, much more so than say beer drinkers.

It's pure guesswork on my part, but I'm guessing smokers order their brand.

We need some facts on this, IMO, Rob!

What do you smoke ?

I smoked Marlboro light box for a long time ( started with reds), only recently ( this year) switched to Seneca light ( if available, about $21), if not I'd take the pot luck cigs for like $17.... gives you no brand, just the style...full flavor, light, menthol, etc.

Dope smokers are loyal too. Some want cheap dirt weed, some want buds that stick to the wall...

Smokers are very particular.... no camel light unfiltered, I'll go to the next gas station...

You underestimate the loyalty of smokers to their brand.

I never saw my father smoke anything but Viceroy.

I wouldn't advise doing this, you can get in big time legal problems with your state if someone ever ratted on you. We used to have a guy at work that would take orders from everyone and buy from a reservation and deliver once a week. People would get cartons from this guy every week. If he ever got caught selling them without paying taxes he could have been fined a very large amt and maybe put in jail? Not sure but not worth the risk imo

I ain't gonna do it....my point is the potential like pot, or coke, or whatever.

Cigs are now like pot

smuggling is actually an option , within BO's 57 states ?

If I make 30 k a year, and smoke a pack a day, that's 10 % of my income ?

seems hard to me ?
