"I have given my heart and soul to coaching college football and mentoring young men for the last 24-plus years and I have dedicated most of my waking moments the last five years to the Gator football program," Meyer said in statement. "I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to re-evaluate my priorities of faith and family.
"After consulting with my family, Dr. Machen, Jeremy Foley and my doctors, I believe it is in my best interest to step aside and focus on my health and family.

would hate to speculate this, but i would have to think it is something like cancer or similar. I coach hs here in florida and have heard him speak at many coaching clinics, and he does have a daughter who plays volleyball and he is very close to her from what i could sense. Maybe he is like, screw it, im done. I want to spend more time with my family.
I do know t his. I have coached hs for 10yrs and i work 6 days a week and easily 80hrs a week at times and hardly no pay and you get to the point where it becomes to much for you. Its hard to stay focused on teaching, hard to maintain a healthy diet, etc...so many variables. It just really wears on you ALOT more than people not in the profession DO NOT realize.
You only live once. Either that or he thinks his defense is gonna suck because charlie strong is gone.
