Thirty years ago schools decided to move toward Title IX compliance by adding scholarships to each of the women's sports, so women's basketball has more than men's basketball. As a result, the talent is more concentrated with the power programs. They really need to cut the number of schollies in this sport to promote some competitiveness.

i dont like womens hoops at all but at times ive been forced to pay attention to the Lady Vols. 20 yrs ago La Tech was the only serious threat to Pat Summit every year. then UCONN and UT were the top 2 teams every year in the 90's. now in the past 10 yrs a bunch of programs have popped up in the ACC and SEC that have had the audacity to beat the Vols and Huskies occasionally. even MTSU has a solid program since my man Insell took over.
Pat and Geno used to be able to pick any recruit they wanted, now they have to battle with id estimate 30 serious womens programs
