Twenty ten is what I think will be used by most, it's easier to say.

Say it was 2027.... wouldn't you say twenty twenty-seven ?

But, if I were to refer to the year 1010, I think I'd say one thousand ten. Ten ten sounds like CB radio slang

Twenty Ten has a better ring to it. I hope that is the one that catches on.

Since the World Is Ending in late Twenty Twelve, let's not make the 2010 arguments too deep.

"We" only have two U.S. Congressmen to vote for in my location for the 2010 cycle and one of them is an Open seat. The other I will likely vote against the Republican incumbent. That noted, he's still a stuanch favorite to hold his seat.

I think it links into the ways different regions say large numbers... I suspect in UK/Aus/Europe Two Thousand and ten will be the way, in the US Twenty ten.

Unless I'm mistaken you guys also say 2500 as 25 hundred, whilst we say 2 and a half thousand.

When I was in Thailand I would ask how much a certain thing cost and they would say "one thousand five hundred baht" instead of "fifteen hundred baht".

There is a web site here that says it should be "twenty ten":

http://www.twentynot2000.com/

"Say the year "1810" out loud. Now say the year "1999" out loud. See a pattern? It's been easier, faster, and shorter to say years this way for every decade (except for the one that just ended) instead of saying the number the long way. However, many people are carrying the way they said years from last decade over to this decade as a bad habit. If we don't fix this now, we'll be stuck saying years the long way for the next 89 years. Don't let that happen! "
