LOL. First, he goes for it on fourth down instead of kicking the field goal to go up by 6. Then, after they convert, all he has to do is take a knee and run out the clock. Guess this guy really wants the job.
Wrong. They weren't in a kneel situation. But, he actually went for it TWICE on fourth down, the second one more questionable, and then clearly they did want to score again. But, it was 1st down with 2:45 left. Can't kneel that out.
They could have easily kneeled. If they let the clock run down to 1 instead of 7 when they called the timeout after 3rd down, they would have been able to kneel. Even where they were at, they could have knelt if they would have dropped back a few yards and taken 4 seconds a play.Wrong. They weren't in a kneel situation. 2:30 is the magic number. If you get a first down with 2:30 left and stay in bounds, you cannot lose if the other team is out of timeouts. But almost no coaches know this, and people like Mack Brown put their QB in the shotgun and have him scramble for yards when they should be in victory formation taking a knee.
Hey coaches, how about mixing in a little arithmetic during the 16 hour days you put in coming up with your gameplan?
I thought the magic number was around 2 minutes. If you take 1st down snap at 2:45 and you assume 5 seconds per play, then 35 second play clock.
2nd down snap @ 2:05
3rd down snap @ 1:25
4th down snap @ :45, clock doesn't run on turnover on down, does it?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the magic number is right around 2 minutes without timeouts.[/quote
You get a first down with 2:30 your first down snap occurs at 2:00. You have first down snap at 2:30

Why? He's got the best record in America against the spread. 1-0.
