Cold turkey report on quitting cigs, update...

I didn't do it at the stroke of midnite, had two left, smoked them during the Fenway NHL game.

No gums or Chantrix or whatever. It's been going kind of OK, no cheating, but I'd surely smoke some MJ if it came my way !

Day 12 seems tough to me, keep getting strong cravings !

I like that my tongue is now red instead of brown, my boogers look a lot better, too !

Any help from you guys, for a guy that has made it this far ?

just dont smoke.......its that simple......you've made it past the toughest part.......it is easy though to fall into old habits.....i know

good luck Doug, I'm glad that is the one vice I never picked up. My gf is trying to quit. I didn't badger her to, but they say it takes six or seven attempts before people actually quit.

good luck.....i've managed to cut back lately, except when i drink beer. the key is to not light that first one of the day. i've gone several hours into the day without sparking one up, but as soon as i smoke that first one, it seems like i go through a half a pack in the blink of an eye. cold turkey is the way to go.....:smoker2:

THe way I quit cold turkey was to think I have to do nothing, i:e you have to go the store to buy a pack, bum a smoke,etc. You feel like a smoke, do nothing about it

Seriously though congrats on the 12 days.Just get busy and focus on something else when a craving comes on.Avoid stressful situations as much as possible.GL

Right now I am on day 5 of level 1 of the Nicoderm patch.
Very effective but still need to (insert joke here) something to do with my hands.

keep your mind of the cigs, keep yourself busy. think positive and about the feeling if you smoke one, how it fucks all the hard work up. 12 days is great work my friend, the hardest part! keep it up man!

The $8 + a pack matters for instant Marby dogs, Online for $3 a pick generic worked for awhile.

I.m kind of jonesing for a cig, but $8 a pack is enough, is too much !

Day 12 is hurting me, I want one this day ! :smoker2:

i used to get em by the carton and not think much about it. i've been getting them by the pack lately, and it seems paying 6 and change for a pack fucks with my mind more than paying 60+ for a carton.

don't smoke one now, if you can help it. 12 days is a lot of investment.....if you get through this part, should be smooth sailing from here on out.....got any old penthouses laying around?

I smoke June to August everyyear at the Canterbury live horseracing meet. I have a smoke as I watch each live race. I am thinking I should not start up this year but a couple of my freinds that go every day also smoke.

I always just quit cold turkey, the whole summer my wife nags on me for smoking.

Good luck Doug you can do it, just a matter of having the will power. Personally I will be 62 in February and have yet to smoke even one puff from a cigarette or cigar. Coming up a day at a time on alcohol also. 20 years on April 22nd if I make it, I am a big favorite seeing how I got this far.....Thanks to The V.A. and AA I got sober back in 1990 and have stayed that way since. You can make it Doug...Quiting drinking is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life...
