Was out of town last weekend for the kickoff of the 2010 PGA Tour.
Hopefully I can come by every week from here on out to provide some insight to one pf my favorite sports.

This week the Tour is @ Waialee CC in Honolulu for the Sony Open. Zach Johnson is the defending champion and will have to contend with a full field this week with all but 20 players making their 2010 PGA debut. 2005 Sony Open champ Vijay Singh will be playing for the first time since off-season knee surgery and several other past champions are in the field as well. Last week’s winner Geoff Ogilvy will not be playing this week.

Here are the odds at my book: I will underline the players I am betting on this week.

One player who is not on the board at my book is Jerry Kelly. He should be in the +6000 range. He's worth a small bet, especially if he gets his putter grooving. This course is set up perfectly for Zach Johnson, who I think has the best shot to win other than Stricker. Lots of pub on Els this week as he's playing a shorter schedule this year as compared to last year. It seems these grizzled tour vets play better early in the year, so I will put some on him along with VJ.
Other leans are Toms, Glover and Luke Donald who is my biggest longshot of the tournament.

BOL to all this weekend!

Zack along with THE FIELD are my biggest threats right now after 36 holes, believe it or not, Zack scares me more than the field, still a long, long, way to go----one bad hole and boom

I got Campbell, Stricker, Cabrera, Allenby, Goosen, Sabbatini, O'Hair and a few others

looks like your book had low odds on Stricker, I'm getting 13-1

still way too early to know what is going to happen, but BOL to you

agreed, can't believe I didn't put any on Allenby, but Zach still has half a round to go today. Tomorrow will be interesting to see how the pressure of a final round has on some of these current leaders.

Allenby hasn't won here in awhile, only in Australia, but his mom died last year and he is walking around limping so maybe things will go his way in the U.S.---I'd still rather have Stricker up there leading, but he is capable at anytime on going on a huge run with his putter-----Or maybe Rory will shoot a huge final round again like he did in Maui-------Nathan Green was one of my few others, but I doubt he can shoot that great again-----I got 4 out of the Top 10, but it will still be very tough---------I Just hope I don't get second, that would be a massive tease

congrats to Palmer. I thought Stricker had a chance for a playoff had he birdied 18. Great final round for him though.

Tough event to cap, especially since the weather is supposed to be down right wet. Only 3 plays this week for me as we will be lucky to even see this thing played. Good value, as the top ranked player is +1500. Best of luck this week.

San Diego and Torrey Pines this week. Phils back and is the odds on favorite. I really like Els this week, and was hoping to get a little better $ on him, but I will take him at plus 1500. I see CHowellIII leading early in this one for some reason. Glover was 3rd here last year and is leading the Tour in accuracy and scoring, love his number here.

I know the tourney has started, as I am just getting back to the office. Going to listen on Sirius in a few. I personally know Brandt, and like him alot, but would roll with Rollins.
Ames is hot already, so I'd go with him.

Ames has zero top 40s in 8 starts at torrey, that's why I went against him. Also just took Allenby -200 for Friday vs. Appleby. It is a lot of juice but these guys are going in opposite directions.

Appleby is on a big decline. Allenby will have a monster day today. I hope he gets in the top3 today. Interested to see what Phil does as well.

Got very lucky to push that allenby vs. appleby - appleby bogeyed 18 so they both finished -3 for the day.

Cheers!

Phil would have been a pick of mine, but in these "smaller" tournies I'd rather go with bigger odds players.
Always up for golf chatter, in fact I am finally after 35 years, going to Augusta this year!

Allenby's back to back bogeys killed any hopes of him winning. I just knew Imada would fold. Congrats to Ben Crane on a solid performance.

Who are your early leans to play well at Riviera? I'm thinking Furyk may get off to a good start. It seems he's due after no wins in over 2 years. I don't see Phil winning this tourney 3 straight years. BOL.
