Nope.

Betall, do you lie awake at night just trying to think of questions to post the following day? Be honest.

Actually, yea, I am right now. Never thought I would, but I am done gambling.

I am slow paying, I am NOT a stiff. We agreed on a pay off date. I hope to have it paid off sooner than later.

Pinches happen, and I got myself into one.

Word.

Really nothing wrong with Working out a payment Plan.

It's the ones that STIFF, and the way they do it....They Don't answer Calls, and Hide. ( It's the worst thing to do )

I've seen guys take a year or more to pay back $5K +

I'm not happy with the situation the way it went down. It was fucked up for sure. But I have paid over 20K thus far.

Ending to the story? I have learned my lesson.

I've asked this here before, but when does the bookie/agent take some of the blame?

I mean, a guy keeps giving you credit when you're losing, then he lets you continue to play when you can't settle.

I take full responsiblity for the pickle I put myself in, but when can we say.....ok, the guy shouldn't book bets?

Slow paid before unfortunately. Was not really my fault since my paycheck was delayed forever and a day and I had worked for the money needed to pay. Still... guilty I suppose.

To tell the truth, if it was Me as the Bookie...and the Number was that Large ....I would have cut you a Deal for LESS.

But it is true to what you say..."Some" Runners/ Agents are Scumbags and don't care.

Listen.......8 out of 10 guys playing Credit, Don't have the Money to Pay if they lose. ( the full amount )

Only the REAL High rollers do.....
The guy that has a $5k-$10K Credit line, if they lose that much...odds say he can't come up with it.

and the wrong thing to do, is keep on giving him Credit.

Even worst, is the Bookies/Agent/ runner that DOESN'T put that person on a "Roll-over" Acount.
99% of Credit acounts, re-set after the week is Over. Thus...putting the Gambler..at a point where his is able to Bet & Lose Another $10k for the week.

I think ALL smaller Credit Playes should be put on a "Rollover" acount.
And if they Don't, and get Beat.....Then it's on them.

Only the "Wise Guys" do that.

BUT.....BUT.....if the guy Hides and Doesn't return calls...or Maybe the guy has to Pay out of his own Pocket ??
They can always find someone that Will collect for them.

You Really don't want that...because You might Not be like that....But the Guys that Collect...are willing to do whatever to Collect, because That's How they Get Paid.

Betall:

Thanks for the clarification.

See, I played with this guy for over a year, won some, lost some, settled pretty regularly with no problemo.

I paid him roughly 20K probably more. But as the economy has it, I started to stuggle, but was making payment.

dude goes busto, all while not telling me shit, so I am sending him payments. Finally contacts me and tells me to stop sending payments and wait to hear from him and my accoutn is closed so i cant track what i have paid.

months later i get contacted, figure is wrong from what i remember, but the new guy worked me a deal.....its all good.

lesson learned.

Credit is nice, it's just casino's are my weakness, and this guy kept opening it for me, when he seen it was a recipe for a disaster.

If I booked, I would book different than him, again, that's probaly why he went bust.

I've been on a payment plan before /w my local... We're friendly aquaintences, and he knows I'd never stiff him. We even joked yesterday when I was picking up about how I'm moving to the west coast, two days after the SB.

He has a few guys I know who get caught up in the moment and go on a payment plan once or twice a year... I think he usually gives them some kind of a break. Good guy.

I owed a bookie a little over $900 who died before collection day came around back in the 70s (he was elderly) and there was no one left to collect. Strange situation but when you think about it if I had won the previous week and had money coming instead I would not have been able to collect. No harm no foul.

The cardinal rule of sports betting IMO is a player should be able to pay when he loses (I realize now and then arrangements have to be made occasionally as I ended up in one to a different bookie also back in the 70s who I paid off a dime at a cecil a week for 10 weeks). The second half of the rule is a player should be able to get paid when he wins.

I have given countless players countless deals to settle when they have gone bad back in the day when I was working the other side of the counter (over 25 years ago). Some paid and some stiffed.

Bigbet sorry to hear that you had a bad run..

wil..

Never have, never would. To me stiffing is like your neighbors telling you they're going away for the weekend, and you robbing their house.
