the 4 BCS games winners advanced to 2 semifinals ?

Lets not hear the " The season is already like a playoff as it is " nonsense. Remember, to get into a BCS game, you basically have to win your Conference, so belief here is every game is important and still would be. Forget also comparing this to CBB, all of there games count from begining to end. Give us a tangible reason if you can !!

I was reading in the Sporting News, Penn St has gone on record as saying they would lose money in a playoff. They would lose a home game.

I'm not buying.

If there is a playoff....there's nothing to argue about. To have debate about college football during the offseason, is good for college football.

Even Fishhead can't give a decent answer to this question

It's too many games, would cut into classes, etc.

Its only a extra game for two semifinal teams and a extra 2 games for the championship teams. Not a valid argument, sorry try again

best 2 teams played this year...under your format, they probably wouldn't...iowa would probably be your national champ.

plus there is 5 BCS games.

You go back to 4 BCS games. Iowa would not have qualified ! Conference winners and 2 at large. Florida and TCU would have got those berths. Thats not the question I posed anyway. Why would the regular season be diminished ?

why have a playoff when the 2 best teams just played?...why does Florida and TCU get in and not Boise or Iowa? Your playoff system is greatly flawed.

Again this is not the question I posed !! Reread the thread again if you must. But to your point, I don't know of anyone out there , " USA, AP, BCS" that had Iowa or Boise ahead of Florida or TCU ! How is that flawed ?

6 Conference winners and 2 at large teams.

the regular season being diminished has never been a main argument of mine, but by the proposal you make, the regular season would be diminished by:

1) why should teams like Ohio St. step out of conference to play USC, knowing that there's a strong possibility they will lose at least one conference game? you will wind up with BCS teams making it a point to schdule cupcakes for all their nonconference games. that would diminish the regular season. watching Ohio St. take on Tennessee Martin for 4 games interests me about as much as the Toilet Bowl.

2) you propose nothing that's different than the system already in place, which most would agree is flawed. how does that add justice to the teams who would no doubt be overlooked? ball st. could go undefeated and still be left out under your scenario.

i'm not against CFB playoffs, but it should be done right. keep in mind that it's still college athletics -- there's no reason the season should stretch into the NFL playoffs. and do we still want to depend on the voters to select at large teams, or would you rather have a system that eliminates biases and special interests determining who gets in?

Not sure if any of these statements have anything to do with the regular season, but I will answer them anyway.

How is my proposal not any different then what is already in place ! Your joking right ? I want the 4 BCS games to mean something instead of them being a exhibition game like they are now where Boise or TCU or Utah or Auburn still has chance to prove they are the best. They don't now !. Not sure if anyone out there would be arguing for Ball St. " including themselves "to play in the championship, especially if they haven't played anyone of substance.

I think the BCS does a OK job in ranking teams, just as USA and AP does. But to assume they're top two choices are the best teams is flawed, because you just don't know. Thats why they should count the 4 BCS games as quarterfinal games. College Football is there own worst enemy as far as worrying how long 8 teams would get done playing. Why not schedule the 4 BCS games starting the 2nd week of December ? Who really cares anymore about waiting for January 1st ! Tradition has long been gone, with spreading the Orange Bowl game, etc. days out and renaming these games every year. The reason the NFL playoffs don't stretch for months is because they start the next week, not wait to play for several weeks as College Football does.

Why would it change on who Ohio St plays if the BCS games count towards a playoff. Just win the Conference and your in. USC doesn't count towards your conference record. Matter of fact, playing USC could help you get a at large bid in case you didn't win the conference. I don't see how playing Tenn. Martin 4 times would get you ready for a tough Conference schedule.

These are silly arguments BTW. These are not answers to my question.
