I know you can't meet them at the gate anymore, since the TPA took over in late 2001.

I ain't picked anybody up in decades.

Do you park, and go to baggage claim now ?

I don't think I can wait outside with a car.

moderate sized airport ...Hartford ( BDL), but still an international airport, and pretty busy.

I am seeking tips on a pick-up !

1) Before you leave for the airport make sure the flight is arriving on time. If there is a connecting flight, make sure the first leg of the flight is arriving at the second airport on time. If it is late, your party might not make the second leg.

2) Park near the airport and have your party call you on your cell phone when they arrive. LAX has a cell phone parking lot where people can wait to receive calls on their cell phone when their party is ready to be picked up. If there is no cell phone lot, wait at a nearby hotel.

Park in the hourly section parking lot and get there close to the expected arrival time to minimize your cost. Then go to either where the passengers come out or to baggage claim and wait for your party to arrive.

Good gosh, that Hartford airport is a piece of cake.

Park in the short term lot directly across from terminal and it's likely no more than $2 an hour. Meet your friend at baggage claim.

Here at TPA, which I'm sure pulls at least double the traffic as Hartford, the first hour in short term is no charge.

Cool, I never even thought about cell phone stuff. I don't even have a cellphone, but my wife has one, hopefully she doesn't come for the ride to the airport, but that's like 99% for sure...no fucking reason I have to go myself, if she's going....only takes one person to drive to airport...

So, just wait until they call and say we got the bags, then do the driveby/pick-up, I guess !

Thanks

youngest S/D she about 24-25, I kid FH that she looks just like you ( actually she does), and her B/F/ fiance.

Hartford is no big deal like Bar says, I'm just trying to plan it smoothly, as I recall only like 6-8 baggage caurosel thingees, so they get their shit, and call me, and I pull up and load seems most sensible.

I totally forget cellphones exist, no need to park hundreds of yards away, it's not about the $2-5, for it, Steve....just kind of stupid.

Airports certainly have different layouts. Both DFW and TPA have baggage claim outside of the secured terminal areas.

Of course it's not.

Just remember though, that if you can save $2 per airport trip, then ten such trips can buy a night at the right Vegas hotels.

Why not just wait for the phone call, Ted ?

My peeps can call, and say we be off the plane, get our shit in 35 minutes or so, call you when we got it, you chill at the dunkin donuts 5 minutes away, then roll up and load, and away we go....

this seems easiest to me, given a rather small international airport.

I refused to pick up/ deliver the elder step-daughter at JFK .

I'll do Hartford, And White plains, and Tweed, maybe Providence and Boston, but those last two are a push.

You love taking shots at me, lawnmower man ! :howdy:

It's kind of mutual, though !

I don't pick peeps up at the airport routinely... therefore I ask how to best do this with the given port, got some good answers.....basically just wait until they get the bags, then a quick load and gone.
