Can someone please explain to me what happened cause it just doesnt make sense...
Why the hell does Conan have to leave why isnt Leno forced off the airwaves his show sucks at 10pm so they reward him by giving him the 1130 again???
They say Conan wasnt too good but his lead in was the sucky Leno!!!!!
This makes no sense at all!!

Jay Leno had bad ratings at 10.

The affiliates complained about it.

NBC decided to take Leno off and put him from 11:35-12:05

Conan's show would run from 12:05 -1:05

Conan said no. This was basically what NBC wanted. They knew Conan would not accept that offer.

So now Conan is leaving and Jay is going back to his old time slot.

Jay should have bowed out but he ain't a classy guy. Remember Jay is the same conniving fuck that pushed out Johnny Carson.

It was also easier for NBC to pay Conan $40 million to leave since they would have had to pay Jay $145 million.

conan's lead in is the nightly news (local).

here is what happened.

nbc went all cheap and gave leno an hr show at 10pm (to save money). His ratings sucked (compared to other stations scripted shows like csi types), but he was still turning a profit for nbc (bc the cost of his show was so cheap). well all the news programs that come on at 11 were suffering with ratings and commerical value bc of the shitty lead in that leno was providing and they threatened to stop showing leno's show.

so to buy out leno would have cost alot more than it cost to buy out conan. Nbc wanted to keep both and move conan back to his old time or after midnight atleast. But Conan waited 5+ years for this gig, moved all the way to california for the job, and was promised alot more time to establish himself at the new time slot. So he basically figured out he had all the power in the situation and stuck it to nbc earning a huge buyout and he's free to sign elsewhere in September.

Conan's ratings were alot lower than leno's ratings at the same time slot in yrs passed, and lettermen had taken over the #1 slot. I personally prefer conan at a later time bc he doesnt have to damper down his comedy and can get away with more at a later time. Im hoping maybe he will go to comedy central and take over the midnight slot after daily show and colbert.

You know what's strange is this finale had way more emotion than Leno's last show.

NBC made a big mistake. That finale was great.

i was disappointed.....i could have done without the crying at the end after a week of telling nbc to kiss his ass....

probably his best show though.....conan wasn't that great to begin with IMO....it was a mistake moving leno in the first place

yeah, i heard about it, seems like it was an hbo movie some years back that i don't think i ever got around to watching, or i might have.....short answer is no, cause even if i did see it, i don't remember much of anything about it....

Conan doesn't have one funny bone in his body. He sucks. Totally unwatchable. I would give him 5 cents and a kick in the ass. He is your typically sad sack dork.

Conan was not funny to me at all. Don't find letterman funny either. I thought Jay was not bad and I think Falon is up and coming. Carson now you were the KING,
Thanks for the memories. Some channel carries old reruns of Carsons days. They are AWESOME.

That's one thing Leno never had, Johnny's respect. That's why I don't understand why people think Leno is a nice guy.

Conan is a brilliant comedy writer who has no stage/ live presence what so ever.
He should do what he does best, stay behind the scenes and write comedy, not perform it.
