Sounds like you are ready. Vista to 7 usually goes smoothly. XP to 7 is when people generally have problems because many programs/files aren't compatible.

Go download the drivers from your laptop's vendor site and get them ready...

One more quick question..how much memory does your laptop have?? minimum is 1G...but the more the better...

Is there a time limit on how long one has to use the "free upgrade"?

I ask because my own new HP laptop (five weeks in now) is using Vista but offers free upgrade to W7

quite frankly, I went from XP to 7 simply because I bought a new laptop

THEN I spent quite a few hours setting things back to the way I like them (as in xp mode)

For instance, unless you do a hack to the msn messenger.....you can't minimize it to the system tray

That information should have come in the Box.
I bought this one around the End of sept. and it gave until Feb.20th the sign up to receive the Disc.

OK Dude....when you upgrade an OS...all your drivers like audio, video, ethernet etc...will be wiped out...therefore you will need to re-install them after you upgrade your OS...

Just go to vendor sites like Dell, IBM, HP etc..to download drivers for your particular model...

You heard???

One more thing...you mention your laptop is 3G...chances are it won't work after you upgrade...so make sure you download the right wireless driver for your laptop...

It can be a bitch if you've never done it before...

GL...or fly my ass to where u live and I'll do it for a small charge...

No.....you can do the same way....

1) Download the files
2) Store it anywhere other than your laptop
3) Transfer to your laptop after your upgrade
4) Install them

Ok, another Stupid question.....

With the Windows 7 Upgrade Disc, in the little booket is says, Back up your System Files.

Is these the same as what you are talking about ( drivers )

Because they say to Create a " Recovery Disc "

NO....what they mean is if you happen to fuck it up during the upgrade..you can re-install, recover or revert back your old vista system files....

You definitely need new drivers every time you're making an upgrade to your OS...sometime a certain driver would work for both Vista and Windows 7...sometime it requires a separate driver for each type of OS...

Give me your exact Toshiba model and i'll look up the link for you..

One question...why u need to upgrade to Windows 7 anyway???

I currently use XP and I prefer to stay that way....

It's more stable and less bugs with Vista and Windows 7...
